The day is cloudy and has a bit of a chill, a long sleeve shirt sort of day. Everything is really still and quiet. I like a day this way. Sun all the time makes for a dry lawn and garden while clouds all the time make for gloom so I'm happy with a mix of days. Yesterday was a perfectly lovely day so I don't mind today's clouds. A chickadee is building a nest in one of my bird houses or at least I think so as I have seen her going in and out of the [...]

Daft Punk | Random Access Memories Words by Ron Jurewicz In April, an emo band called Fall Out Boy came out of a five year hiatus to save rock and roll. The world still isn’t quite sure how to thank them, but I think an absurd, ironic punishment along the lines of tying their hands to their legs, pushing a boulder down a hill towards their loved ones and saying ‘Now Fall Out Boy, save rock, and roll’, should do nicely. When Daft Punk [...]
What a pleasure to spot our dear friend DJ Falcon, who just collaborated with Daft Punk on their new album “Random Access Memories” out next Monday, dressed in Maison Kitsuné! In an interview given to The Creators Project for Vice magazine, about his co-working with the helmeted robot duo, DJ Falcon, namely Stéphane Quême, is wearing the Classic Shirt [...]

"Random Access Memories" is a landmark album that will change the face of dance music in a similar way that Radiohead's "Kid A" changed indie music. Make no mistake – this is, without a doubt, the most important album of 2013. To give you some context, Daft Punk have a lot to prove here. After the relative misstep of "Human After All" in 2005 they returned with a live album / greatest hits mixtape of sorts with "Alive 2007," which in following years seemed to spread like a dirty secret across America. Previously, Daft Punk had been pushed to [...]

It was a nostalgic evening, these next couple of weeks will be filled with memories, friends, family and anticipation as I gear up to head North to the Bay Area. A night of celebration. Celebrating my best friend and the birth of her gorgeous baby girl, as well as her sister becoming an Auntie. I am over the moon with glee. We are all grown up. It is a beautiful thing... As I drove back to my childhood home Fionn Regan shuffled on, Be Good or Be Gone . The gentle [...]

Hey guys. So school is almost out. What is everybody doing for summer break? Yeah, me too. But it's hard working people like you and me that make this (any) country what it is/was, so lets all give ourselves a pat on the back. Put some music on this Spotify playlist for you, hope you find some joy inside of it. And remember that you can't always get what you want, but if you try you might get what you need. If that's not working out then, I dunno, you could probably just chill and listen to this playlist instead. [...]

The Memories released the followup to their 2012 self-titled bedroom pot rager last month via Gnar Tapes and it's called Love Is The Law . The Memories specialize in goofy, sweet, awkward stoner jams about being in love that usually clock in at about a minute and a half. While The Memories can stray from what works here and there, it never takes too long before they redeem themselves, Huey Lewis-ing your ass with the power of their love. Try out "I Wanna Be That Guy" below and b [...]

I’ve come to the conclusion that pop music is hard-coded into each Swede's DNA. Talented newcomers MAASAI are no exception. Their debut track, “Memories,” is a sentimental track about a failed relationship disguised by uptempo tribal beats and a soaring chorus. The Stockholm duo, consisting of Dominque Teymori and Zackarias Ekelund, chose the name MAASAI to convey the power and force that they put into their music. Taking a page from fellow Swedish pop sensation Lykke Li’s “I Follow Rivers,” the video features a lush Nordic landscape that beautifully contrasts the heartbreak and pain found in the lyrics. [...]

[ediTors' note: our correspondent down in the "california" area has been doing nothing but banging beach sluts and drinking all the fine wines that the "californias" have to offer for the last several months. he went to burgerama recently to connect with the youth. this is how he feels about it.] "In the days prior to Burgerama, I anticipated vast slabs of pink slime sizzling on a grill, being passed around to patrons and passersby only to sit in their bowels, undigested, for the rest of their lives. I was told that this was not the case. [...]
When I woke up, it was closer to afternoon than morning. I suspect it was the combination of pills I'm taking for my back. Gracie and Fern were still with me, both asleep. I imagine they too had excuses for sleeping so late, but I have no idea what they are. They don't share. It took me a while to get out of bed, but I yelped less than yesterday. I guess that's a barometer of sorts for my back getting better. The sun is out and the sounds of drips are in stereo from the front and [...]

Tweet My name's Aidan. I run a small bedroom label called Long Lost Records, and make music as Soil Creep and with my band Celibacy Club . Here's my International Tapes mix. I wanted to make something fun and interesting that was a reflection of stuff I've been listening to lately. Suggested listening situations: dancing to a funeral, watching X-files on mute, waiting for a Counter Strike match to start, having just opened a window 20 degrees open. Enjoy. http://longlostrecords.com/ [...]

'Canicula Days' the debut album from Norway's Dråpe is out next month (April 18 via Riot Factory ). We've treated our ears to the first single ' Blue Skies ', now dive into the follow up - 'Memories'. I've heard four or five tracks from this record and while I'm not a betting man, I do love to contradict myself - so five bucks says this is one of the strongest dream pop albums of 2013! *puts crystal ball back on shelf* P.s. don't hold me to the five bucks please. Dråpe [...]

The Virgins self-tiled album back in ‘08 was such a great listen and it was sad to see the band disappear for some years. No worries though, as the band is back and ready to release their 2nd record Strike Gently on March 12th via Cult Records (Julian Casablancas’ label 1st release). This 1st single “Flashbacks, Memories, and Dreams” bring us right back to that ultra funky New York-cool sound that this band displays so fell. Sexed up bass lines are in full force working with Donald Cumming unmistakable vocal swagger. Listen and download below.
Raleigh, NC-based singer/songwriter Kenny Roby has announced the release of Memories & Birds due April 2nd on Little Criminal Records. The eight song effort is the first new album in over six years and fourth overall from the founding member of the acclaimed '90s alt-country/indie rock band, Six String Drag. Co-produced by Jason Merritt (Chatham County Line, Tift Merritt), Memories & Birds was recorded over six months and incorporates 12 musicians to create the album's often lush and evocative orchestrations.
