Portland-based KV faves Menomena make a one-stop return to the UK on May 13th to play the Garage. As ever, it promises to be a wonderful show. The news also gives me the opportunity to post the video for Plumage once more:

 "Plumage" where Menomena shows us their forms of plumage. "Plumage" is off of Menomena's fifth album,  Moms. A boat captain, fisherman, alcoholic IQ man with a bloody nose from probably doing a lot of blow, snipers, free-lifting army soldier..it's great.

Fans of Portland experimental rockers Menomena were no doubt disappointed to hear that founding member Brent Knopf left the band to explore other creative pursuits. Justin Harris and Danny Seim have soldiered on, however, releasing the group's fifth album, Moms , earlier this year. Menomena's new clip features a long-developing bandmate standoff that comes complete with dozens of costume changes. The description on YouTube reads "Menomena share their various forms of plumage," which I totally hadn't put together! Now it all - and by that I mean everything - makes sense. Menomena premiered the first video from their new album, Moms , this morning, and here it is. Perhaps toying with the idea that the band has gone from trio to duo, "Plumage" takes the idea of a one-on-one confrontation to extremes. Fans of legs—Danny Seim's and Justin Harris' legs, specifically—will enjoy the opening shots. I've yet to get my hands on the new Menomena record, " Moms ", because it doesn't come out until Oct. 18, but I'm digging the video for the track, "Plumage." It features Danny Siem and Justin Harris meeting up in the desert and engaging in a costume change duel. Anyone that had any doubts about the departure of Brent Knopf from the band (ahem) will probably be reassured after hearing this song.

Portland duo Menomena is set to release Moms , their fifth full-length record, on September 18th, 2012, and they recently started to tease some of that new material. The band's label Barsuk Records took to YouTube last week to stream the track "Capsule" . Band members Justin Harris and Danny Seim's sound has often been dubbed "experimental rock," and this sense of adventure is evident on the new song, a groove-heavy jam replete with beautiful instrumentation, melodic vocals, and, yup, references to glory-holes.
