There's something disconcerting about She & Him  – something indefatigably indescribable that makes these immoderately saccharine musics, tunes that should automatically repel, in fact attract. And I Could've Been Your Girl is yet another direct reflection of that. I suppose it's indicative of the inconceivable split of Ben Gibbard and Zooey Deschanel who here coos: "It doesn't matter, I fought my heart/ It's broken, shattered to a million and one/ Undone, I guess I haven't won" atop M. top of the morning! i couldnt have been more excited when i learned that mount moriah had joined the merge ranks, and then when i thought my excitement couldnt get any higher, i listened to their latest, miracle temple. if you've been following along mount moriah's self titled 2011 release was 6th favorite record from that year. it was/is a gorgeous and heartbreaking piece of work. now, miracle temple is equally as gorgeous, not so much heartbreaking but more uplifting. then again, maybe new feelings will be unfurled once i give it a few more spins. its musically more dense [...]
