Classic Rock and Metal Hammer have changed hands , with the spectacularly named Team Rock purchasing the titles from Future. Team Rock is led by John Myers: Myers is executive chairman of the new company, TeamRock, which will create and distribute content to what it describes as the "large but under-served community" of rock music fans. The new business is expected to announce more acquisitions in the next few days. Under-served community? With the two titles here, plus a bunch of spin-off sister publications, and Bauer's Kerrang empire, and the Download Festival, and [...]

It's time for another Thrash Hits festival splash page - and this time it's for Hammerfest . All of our Hammerfest 2013 coverage from the weekend will be linked to on this here post, so make sure you bookmark it as it's all you're going to need. Yep. That means individual band coverage (photos, setlists and maybe even some reviews), all the dodgy rumours and awful gossip our man David Keevill overhears, and every single photo of Wales-based debauchery that Gary Wolstenholme and Jenn McCambridge snap will be here. -- [...]
Both apps have their pros and cons, but neither one is as cool as the existing Earache app.

What do get when you mix four Belgians, Milton Keynes tech metallers, some Welwyn Garden City hardcore kids and Devil Sold His Soul ? The Metal Hammer 2012 Razor Tour, of course. And while it's one of the less obvious four-band touring bills around, Tom Dare thought it looked like a good one, so we sent him off to Camden to review it. From which he came back half-blind. Six things we learned when The Metal Hammer Razor Tour came to London: [...]
It's been a bit of a rough year for the guys from TesseracT . We browbeat their guitarist, James Monteith, into telling us the inside story of just what's been going on with them these last few months. Let’s be straight up; the last year has pretty much sucked for TesseracT . We lost our singer from our debut album, much to the disappointment of fans, we parted ways with our US management, lost our US booking agent and stopped getting any gig offers in the [...]
What is Iron Fist magazine ? Well, the short answer is that it's the brand spanking new metal magazine for die-hard metallers, coming at you from September 2012. The long answer is what you'll get when you listen to our interview with Louise Brown, head-honcho of Iron Fist (and former editor of Terrorizer to boot), which Hugh semi-drunkenly conducted with her about this new project after cornering her at Bloodstock Open Air 2012.. This is the first of two supplementary podcasts this week - both of which we've already [...]

Well, this is pretty cool. Because it's the tenth anniversary of the Metal Hammer Golden Gods, the ceremony's sponsors Orange are giving away an amp. It's called a MICRO CRUSH and you can win it right here. See? Cool. Apparently, it's going to be the biggest Golden Gods award ceremony yet, or perhaps EVER. Legendary wrestler Chris Jericho will be hosting it and his band Fozzy is going to be playing a gig on a boat called the HMS Hammer beforehand. Hopefully we'll be on it, getting drunk and puking on ducks. [...]
Cancer Bats have released one of our favourite albums of 2012 with Dead Set On Living . Cancer Bats did one of the best things we've ever seen a band do with The Pentagram Tour . Cancer Bats are awesome so we caught up with songer Liam Cormier to ask him some crap questions about stuff. -- You sound at your most pissed off on the new record. What's been getting under your skin so much? There are some angry jams mixed in [...]
So James Monteith , intrepid TesseracT guitarist and Thrash Hits columnist found himself in Austin, Texas for the South By Southwest music festival again. He didn't puke, but he did drink tequila, see a load of cool bands and hang out with loads of cool people. Cool. He's written about it AND answered a question from the postbag. Whoop. After another eventful SXSW, I thought, "It’s time to write another column." If you read my SXSW column last year (or have seen the countless comments [...]
This time next week, our intrepid representatives at Hammerfest IV - The Hammer of Thor , will be slowly trying to recover from a weekend where the level of attention paid to the many heavy metal bands playing is directly (and inversely) proportional to the levels of booze being imbibed by them. How do we know they'll be getting smashed rather than getting their mosh on? Well, because even if you headline your event with Anthrax and Skindred, we know for a fact that whenever more than one Thrash Hits contributor ends up in the same room at Pontin's in [...]
Times are tough. The economy is up the spout, your next payday is weeks away, and those blissful who-cares-about-next-week feelings that Summer festival season bring are even further away in the distance. Thankfully, Hammerfest IV is set to strike in March to alleviate that Spring slump, and what's more, if you enter our competition to win a set of FOUR weekend passes to the event, you might be able to bust down to Prestatyn without even having to pay an entry fee. [...]
We love a bit of metal so we went down to Brixton Academy to see Trivium headline Metal Hammer's Defenders of the Faith tour with In Flames, Ghost and Rise To Remain in tow. Insense played as well but they played really, really early and Gary didn't even manage to take photos of them up in Manchester. There are loads of photos. Go click on them and then go visit Gary's website because he's awesome. Six things we figured out whilst watching all the metal in Brixton: [...]
What was the best debut metal album of the past 25 years?? Metal Hammer wanted to know, so they asked their readers... and over 16,000 responded. Now, if there's anything my otherwise worthless Communications Studies college degree taught me, it's how to parse survey results. Any survey conducted in the manner of Metal Hammer's is [...]
The track "El Sur de la Fe" from Venezuelan sludge/doom band Cultura Tres is featured in Metal Hammer #223 this month on the CD compilation that comes with the magazine. The compilation includes music from fifteen metal bands from around the world ? Lebanon, Mexico, Andorra, India, Macedonia, etc. The magazine is out now in Europe and on October 11... Indian metal acts 1833 AD , the now-disbanded Workshop and Pune act Noiseware have been featured on a recent Metal Hammer compilation disc. This month's issue of the UK magazine features Mast0don (whose new album The Hunter we highly recommend you check out) on the cover, and Global Metal Vol 3 - a 15-track comp that features the aforementioned Indian bands. The predecessor to this mixtape, Global Metal Vol 2 , was another 15-song disc that featured 10 Indian bands including Scribe (recently nominated for [...]
