The first trailer for the Broken Social Scene-scored , Sonic Youth-referencing film Daydream Nation dropped today as the upcoming world premiere of director Mike Goldbach’s feature directorial debut at the Toronto International Film Festival was announced. The Canadian indie supergroup,  Broken Social Scene , have long since been on a roll following the release of their 5th full-length album, Forgiveness Rock Record in May of this year. The collective consists of an ever-changing roster of musicians including Leslie Feist, Stars, Apostle of Hustle, amongst a slew of others. The music video for their second single off of the aforementioned album, "Forced To Love" features holographic type visuals of the band. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was released today, as well as a new video for the track, "Eclipse (All Yours)" from Metric, one of many prominent tracks from the soundtrack. The Canadian band are B-Sides favorites, as well as a fan in Howard Shore–who scored Lord of the Rings and David Cronenberg’s Naked Lunch. Got to check out Metric this weekend at the Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park. What a great goddamn show. I know this is an obvious comparison, but I swear, Emily Haines is Debbie Harry incarnate (which also doesn't make sense, as Debbie Harry is still alive). The crowd was, unfortunately, fairly quiet for much of the show, but that didn't seem the affect the band's energy at all. Despite their stupor, the crowd did seem pleased by the end of it. Funny thing about those Metric kids: They seem to consistently release solid CDs but, for some reason, they constantly choose to release my least favorite tracks off said albums as "singles".
