Frank Yang If you have a look over the last couple weeks of posts, you may notice that I've been to a number of shows lately; certainly the busiest stretch in some months. So when I say that to get me out of the house for a late Sunday night show on the other side of town would require something pretty dang special, I mean it. Fortunately or unfortunately, I'm not sure which, The Shop at Parts & Labour was hosting just that. I'd have probably gone if it was just Veronica Falls [...]

Hi! My name is Desirée and I’m new here at BIYL. It may take a post or two for me to get into my groove, but I’m excited to be able to share with you some of the awesome music that crosses my path each and every day. I grew up in various cities just outside of Toronto, Canada, which fostered a love for the brilliantly diverse music that comes out of this country – from the east coast to the west and everything in between. Lise posted her Halloween mix, so now I'm going to post mine (and I'm using her collage because I'm feeling, well, lazy). Let's get the ball going, shall we? We all know Halloween Ball is one of the events we look forward to at All Souls Eve. Whilst I am one of the person who are ambivalent with Halloween (Love or Hate?), I swear to being the apprehensive one when it comes to musical choices. Who said Halloween is was all about swanky costumes, pranks and booze? Here is my trick or treat for you guys, a whole set (read 13 + bonus tracks of my kind of playlist for this season). [...]

Currently I'm unemployed and homeless. My days see a lot of cafe-inhabiting using wifi and intense mp3-browsing so that I can prepare for my DJ session for Halloween. Here are some gems I've come across so far that I'll be playing next Friday. First this Ladytron remix by Stray Dogs in Paris . Makes good use of piano without sounding too cocktail-partyish. We'll see if this one can keep the feets shuffling. It's good that's for sure, but it might be too slow. Let me know what you think. [...]
