Later this fall, Canadian indie contemporaries Metric and Stars will team up for a co-headlining tour across Canada. In support of Metric's recently released album Synthetica and Stars' forthcoming sixth LP The North , which is out on September 4th, the two bands will kick off their tour in Victoria, BC on November 9th. Everything I've read about Metric 's Synthetica alludes to the band's past (or present, depending on your perspective) as Canada's "indie" music darlings, and whether or not they still fall under that ill-defined classification. They're forgoing traditional record company involvement and issuing this album, like their last, on their own MetricMusic imprint, thereby handling everything internally, so technically this is an independent record, but that tiny five-letter word carries with it connotations reaching farther than production and distribution. After three years, Synthetica , the long awaited fifth studio album from Metric , is nearing its June 12th release date, and now you can stream the album in full a week before it is set to hit stores. The band's own Jimmy Shaw produced the 11-track album at Grant Studios in Toronto and Electric Lady Studios in New York. Give it a listen below. Synthetica is out on June 12th via Metric's own Metric Music International imprint.
