Metric finally had some crossover success with their last LP, with the help of singles "Help, I'm Alive" and "Gold Girls Guns". They have a new album coming out on June 12th entitled Synthetica . The lead track has been posted on the band's site. You can stream it down below. Hopefully an MP3 will be following soon.

A brand new track from Metric has hit the web and it's set to feature on their fifth album, Synthetica. Although the album isn't set to drop until the 12th of June they've offered up this cut titled "Youth Without Youth" to whet the appetites of fans. Anyone else noticed the similarity between Metric's "Help I'm Alive" and Big Audio Dynamite II's "Rush?" No? Just me? Every time I hear that Metric song I can't help but start singing "Rush"- a song I've always found beyond annoying, which, needless to say, precludes any ability for me to appreciate "Help I'm Alive." BAD has not only retroactively tarnished Mick Jones' contributions to The Clash but now it's ruining modern indie rock, too... For all our love of Broken Social Scene alumni projects here at HAD, Metric is probably the most neglected. We're not sure why that is exactly, except maybe that the Emily Haines-fronted band is probably lacking a big part of what we love about BSS. It's not that there's anything wrong with Metric (quite the contrary), but just that their sound is so accessible and electro that it's not really what we're looking for when our mind is driving towards that BSS sound. Today is my last day on the West coast, and it's been a fantastic vacation.  I've had a chance to hang with the family for a few days, catch some rays and escape the cold.  I haven't been paying much attention whats been going on musically, but that's easily summed up in four letters-SXSW.  I'm betting my bottom dollar that by Monday I'll have a load of emails telling me how great the festival was and what super acts I missed, and so we'll deal with all that hoopla next week.  In the event there's no other QBiM post this [...]
