Watch Lou Reed Join Metric In NYC

Those in attendance at last night's Metric show at Radio City Music Hall got a special treat: The band did a couple songs with local musician Lou Reed. Reed was a guest on Metric's Synthetica , and the band-plus-Reed performed "The Wanderlust," from that album, as well as the Velvet Underground classic "Pale Blue Eyes." Tuesday night, Metric announced the Synthetica mini-documentary by posting a trailer in a Facebook post and Tweet, but yesterday, The A.V. Club has posted the first of four episodes that comprise the ultimate behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Metric's fifth full-length studio album, Synthetica. So what if Metric 's "Youth Without Youth," the first single off their new album "Synthetica" (out today via MMI and Mom + Pop), sounds a bit like Muse. The band's "Fantasies" (2009) had a glimmer of glam-pop, and they've run with it by turning up the slink through Emily Haines' vocals on the new record.
