You can now stream the brand new Metric single, “ Youth Without Youth ” below. To me, this falls a bit short. Besides the repetitive riffs, Emily just sounds like she’s sleeping, also also manages a very cheesy crowd participation call. At least the commentary from the band after the song plays, reminds me that some intelligence was put forth for this track. Still have high hopes for the record, SYNTHETICA, which comes out June 12th.

Metric has gone big with the first single from their forthcoming album Synthetica, titled "Youth Without Youth." Maybe they are experimenting with different sounds as their last release Fantasies wasn't the most memorable thing in the world.

Metric 's first single arrived to us not in MP3 form today, but in Soundcloud form.  A form which is increasingly becoming THE way to release your first single for all of the 'it' and even those 'not it' bands.  I think that says something for Soundcloud. For the past week, Metric has been sharing clues with fans about "Youth Without Youth," the band's first single from the forthcoming album, Synthetica (MMI/Mom+Pop). We've seen mysterious video footage from the recording studio, heard Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw speak on the making of the song, and even saw fan interpretations of "Youth Without Youth" after the song's lyrics and sheet music were unveiled and before the song's release (relive the experience at www.ilovemetric.com/youthwitho utyouth ). In One Ear didn't get into Metric until their last album Fantasies back in 2009. We regret it a lot. Anyway to compensate for this oversight we're going to get the hype bandwagon rolling early by praising new single Youth Without Youth for being bloody brilliant and no less than we expected for the band who managed to reference both the Beatles and the Rolling Stones in Gimme Sympathy . Para a alegria geral da nação, o Metric está de volta e com tudo. O grupo canadense liderado pela carismática Emily Haines lançará, em junho, seu quarto álbum, chamado "Synthetica". Há pouco, a banda colocou na net a faixa "Youth Without Youth" e já dá mostras de que não estão para brincadeira. A faixa é excelente e mantém a pegada que deu ao Metric o reconhecimento adquirido. Resta esperar mais alguns dias para ver  se a obra completa seguirá a mesma linha. Confiram "Youth Without Youth" sem pestanejar.
