David Bowie is indubitably one of the most influential artists of recent times. Across a career spanning some fifty years, he has repeatedly changed the way we look at the world; adjusted the face of fashion; altered the future of music forever. And so when on his 66th birthday Bowie released his first new song in ten years, it made for an unquestionably special moment. Bowie was back, and just as his latest LP The Next Day made for one of the most anticipated albums of this year thus far, the V&A's David Bowie is [...]

Worlds collide as Kieran Hebden, better known as Four Tet , is slated to release an official remix of Justin Timberlake's Suit & Tie . The remix was leaked last week with degraded audio but was re-released on Hebden's Soundcloud today. The producer was quoted by SPIN.com saying, "Yeah, it's an official remix commissioned by the label and it just got approved, so I think it will be getting a proper release. It got leaked yesterday, which is how people suddenly know about it. The sound on the leak is distorted, too, which is [...]

The newest video from The M Machine dropped today and it is AMAZING. Both the music and the story are super well done and the graphics integrate the older M Machine videos which is a great touch. This is only the first video off of the groups latest EP which was released last week, check that out below, and keep a close eye for more from this OWSLA powerhouse Check out the full EP here:

Club driven tunes and Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet have been inseparable over the past year. It feels like ages ago when the man controlling the dancefloor was making music more in tune with his more jazz and hip-hop leaning roots. Alas, thanks to some recent collaborations with RocketNumberNine, that Four Tet is back. The next release on his Text label features last week's " Roseland " with today's "Metropolis" on the flipside. Hebden continues to use Text for the never ending stream of creative output and this jazzy 123 is another much welcomed contribution.

Four Tet and RocketNumberNine have released their second collaborative track. 'Metropolis' follows first cut from the pair, ' Roseland ', and, like the first track, 'Metropolis' was recorded live and in one take. The two tracks are set to be released imminently by Four Tet's label Text, with 'Metropolis' being the b-side.
Our admiration for TEXT023 – the forthcoming collaborative release between RocketNumberNine and Four Tet – has been well-documented to the point of becoming almost absurdly ubiquitous. Indeed, we've waxed lyrical over the forthcoming limited 123 to the ludicrous extent that we've already covered this, its flipside a little while back. We can now reveal it is in fact entitled Metropolis, and can be streamed right now down below in all its glory. It also just so happened to be the seemingly somewhat inadvertent highlight of the trio's Electrowerkz showing just last week, just so [...]
The San Francisco-based The M Machine - created from the remnants of Pance Party - have served up inventive productions since they first appeared in mid-2011 with a mysterious teaser video dubbed "Metropolis." The group's latest outing takes their prog-electronica style and extends the ambiance over a 6-track EP that is bursting at the seams with lush soundscapes and chilling vocal cuts. More than just an EP, Metropolis Part II is a concept album at its heart, set in an alternate reality and framed by pragmatic art direction and the group's digital liner notes . While many producer's create [...]
When Jason Bentley was promoted to host of Morning Becomes Eclectic a few years ago, we mourned the loss of his longtime, late night show, Metropolis. We got some good news for fans of his previous radio show today because...
Every since Jason Bentley took over the reins of Morning Becomes Eclectic , people approach me ALL the time and say “when are you guys going to bring back Metropolis ?!?” Well, we now have an answer. Saturdays from 10pm to midnight! For those who don’t know, Metropolis launched the electronic dance music revolution in Los Angeles in the early 90’s. On a life-changing trip to Europe, Jason discovered the genre and brought it to KCRW ’s airwaves. As he told the Hollywood Reporter recently, [...]
Sam Shepherd's Floating Points produce isn't designed for these bitterly gelid times. It's that bit too insouciant – far better suited to summertime climes. Though one man's misfortune proves to be another's providence, and the ominous throbs which the brothers Page tonight spurt out from under the guise of RocketNumberNine corroborate this most cogently. Arriving later rather than earlier, the sonorous pounding of Matthew & Toby is already busily thumping against the inside wall, travelling straight on through to these altogether sharper outdoors. There's something of an impromptu, almost ramshackle nature to tonight and although it's [...]

Since the release of Metropolis Part 1 , The M Machine has toured around North America and Europe, supporting Skrillex , Porter Robinson , and even headlining gigs of their own. Finally, after nearly a year of waiting, they've released the second part of their electronic fantasia on OWSLA . Metropolis Part 2 concludes their first full-length album, an homage to a 1920s film of the same name. You'll instantly recognize The M Machine's distinct sound upon hearing the first track, The Palace , a [...]

Un album, mais séparé en deux EPs. C'est le projet Metropolis ! Un an après la sortie du premier volume, The M Machine annonce la sortie très prochaine d'un nouvel EP : Metropolis Pt. II.

About to ride high on the current tsunami of electro/pop sweeping the country are Scottish masters of the art Pumajaw , who are in the throes of planning a gig assault on Britain and Europe. The release of the album Demonmeowmeow at the end of 2011 saw them tour Europe where for some reason they are more revered than back in the Old Country. Maybe the more cosmopolitan nature of the Italians is better suited to Pumajaw's 'music is [...]

Metropolis EP by Blynk Available Free for 30 Days. Pay What you can. © dg , 2012

Something deeper from UK producer Blynk and Toronto digital label Sincerious. The " Metropolis EP " combines the sounds of classic minimal Techno and deep, soulful Dubstep into a fantastic free release. The title track is simple, yet soulful, with obvious odes to Berlin and Detroit present in this icy Techno track. Packing a pair of remixes, Manchester producer Dom Hz re-works the original into a smooth, soulful cut of classic Dubstep, bringing the bass line to the front over luscious synths while Edmonton producer, and former member of Knight Riderz, Jake Robertz gets low down [...]
