Two days, two miracles! We're only two days into 2012, and already this feels like another one, a second unexpected miracle. As you might recall from my previous post (and if not, you can read it here ), my first one was waking up solo on New Year's Day. Now, for the first time ever, I actually want to see a movie starring Robert Pattinson. I'm one of the lucky few who has never seen a Twilight film, and I have no desire to ever do so. Despite a short-lived passing interest in [...]

Matt Damon dons a fake moustache in this fun little fake-real car commercial for Cars 2 (via AdFreak ). Of course it's not Stu Stubin 's car lot located in Emeryville , it's Pixar . But whether you call the phone number at the end or catch the "secret" interruption, you'll find the following transmission (no pun intended) … THE HIDDEN MESSAGE: That jump cut at the end had a heat-vision view of Finn McMissile , the new Cars 2 [...]
Turns out everyone has a Michael Caine impersonation, including actor Michael Caine. Steve and Rob have met their match by the original. Given, it probably wasn't fair to begin with, seeing as how Michael Caine is Michael Caine. But you know, semantics. [via kottke ]

Disney/Pixar 's animation blockbuster Cars 2 hits theaters June 24th 2011. This time around there will be many new cars joining in on the fun. I can't wait to see this one! Finn McMissile – voiced by Michael Caine Professor Z – voiced by Thomas Kretschmann (Valkyrie) [...]

Cars 2 Behind A Bug's Life , Cars was my second least favourite of the Pixar canon of films. Cars 2 on the other hand looks like it might actually be a vast improvement on its predecessor. I really like the James Bond angle of the trailer. Sure the spy stuff was already done in The Incredibles , but hopefully Cars 2 will bring something new to the genre. The Mechanic I like [...]
Amazing. And not in a bizarre, Asians Doing Christopher Walken Impressions kinda way. Just watch … Rob Brydon 's evolution of early vs. later, Brandy-soaked Caine is amazing. And then Coogan drops the bomb. Awesome. Many rumors surround the currently untitled new Batman project. Some of the recent speculation include both Edward Norton and Joseph Gordon-Levitt being cast as The Riddler . The latest gossip in the Hollywood rumor mill is that Inception star Tom Hardy will join the cast in an unspecified lead role. Not much is known yet about the Caped Crusader's next adventure other than who is directing and which actors are to reprise their previous [...]

Back to the blogging grind, thanks to all for the well wishes. It was a great trip, good food, good people, etc. Inception In 2005 Christopher Nolan attempted to change the way most people viewed both summer blockbusters and comic books with his film Batman Begins . Nolan used that film to remind us that not all summer blockbusters had to be mindless affairs. It is possible to have a summer movie that offered both [...]

" Inception " made its midnight premiere last night at midnight to crowded theaters, with fans flocking to see Christopher Nolan's newest thriller. "Inception" is said to be a thriller based on a team of specialists hired to steal from a person's subconscious. Moviegoers shelled out a total of $3,000,000 for the first run of the movie last night, which only had a run of 2,200. From the trailer, it sounds like [...]

Spiced Just Right Magnolia A guy jumps on a couch once and the people instantly forget that he has the ability to deliver great performances. So for those who think Cruise is all big budget fluff and tabloid fodder let me bring your attention to one of my favourite characters, Frank T.J. MacKey, in my all-time favourite movie. Though Cruise was nominated for an Oscar, for best supporting, he lost [...]
A week may be a long time in politics, but it seems like a bloody lifetime during a General Election campaign. I know you've all been frothing over Nick Clegg this past week - watch his body language when he speaks; it screams Tony Blair - but I have to step back in time by posting below the excellent spoof election poster that I just this minute stumbled across. It's rather fine and stands up well, despite the fact that the 8th of April seems like a lifetime ago. [...]

I am Michael Caine. Enough said.

I couldn't handle a 'hot out of the screening room' review of The Dark Knight. I'm still unsure how the collected press managed to draft up honest reviews of the film mere minutes after walking out of the press screenings. Maybe I was too wrapped up in all the pre-release hype that surrounded this film, but regardless, that hype was not left unjustified. The Dark Knight, as a cinematic spectacle, is unmatched by any blockbuster of the last ten years (my movie-going period). It is also the most emotionally draining piece of culture that I have ever being [...]
