Adhering to tried-and-true music principles, Kaleidoscope Dream manages to harken back to the sounds of R&B yesteryear and still sound it couldn't have been released in any year other than 2012. Usually, the record label is one of the least interesting nuggets of information on the back of an album. But in the case of Miguel's Kaleidoscope Dream, the ancient stamp of RCA Records is indicative of the 43 minutes awaiting a listener.
