The Swedish outfits latest clip continues on with Jean Noel himself who you may remember in previous videos for "Paddling Out" and "The Wave." In this clip Jean ventures through LA's Hard Festival and sneaks on stage with while Miike Snow is playing their set and then proceeds to dance his face off. Just another episode in the awesome life of Mr. Jean Noel. Happy to You is available now.
I hope I'm not the only one who had the same thought as me when I first saw Jean Noel in this, and each of their other videos: Gerard Depardieu has been working out! "The Pretender" is the fourth single/video to be taken from Miike Snow 's latest album Happy To You and follows their friend Jean Noel through the grounds of the Hard Festival in LA during the band's performance. Brynn joins us this week from Click It Ticket and Musicology 101 to give us her take on the new Miike Snow album. As someone who goes through a lot of music, discarding much of it after a listen or two, it's always a pleasure when a new album passes the two-week test and in fact is still in the shuffle several months later. It's even better when said album comes from a band in which I had little to no previous interest, and then suddenly they bring out some new [...]
Miike Snow 's last LP was a big hit here at the Maroon Cafe, and Flight Facilities is a more personal musical crush we haven't elaborated upon yet. So having the two Aussie mix magicians take " The Wave " as their acoustic play-doh is like the cherry on top of Happy To You . The punchy pop track grows even more poignant with the added pulsating beat and tends to turn more and more into a house music track as the song advances.
Miike Snow have touched down in Manhattan. Their landing pad? Terminal 5, where the band has played three sold out shows this week. On Tuesday, night two, as the crowd anxiously awaited the start of the show, a hexagonal beat machine, known as "the blob," (and looks like a space shuttle) loomed center stage. Overhead a video projection hung on the wall, with a gaping black hole in the middle. If Miike Snow was trying to transport the audience to another dimension, they did just that. As the stage flooded with red lights, Miike [...]

Before Nirvana released In Utero in 1993, the band threatened that their album was an "unlistenable punk-rock nightmare," thereby challenging their fanbase to embrace their challenging new sound or die. However, many album of the years and top ten lists later, In Utero went on to be a critical success, despite the lack of a rallying track such as "Smells Like Teen Spirit' to buoy it. The same can be happily said of Swedish-American indie-electro group (thats alot of hypens) Miike Snow's second LP; though it doesn't have a single that is [...]
"Will get you warmed up nicely for all the big festivals this summer..." Miike Snow | Happy To You Perfection does not exist. The perfect human does not exist. If it ever did it would have perished at an early stage. That is, both videos together form a unified story about a group of unfortunate humans who were abducted to space [...]

De band Miike Snow heeft eindelijk weer een album uit. Na het succes van het eerste album waren ze een van de acts om dit jaar in de gaten te houden. Ruim op tijd voor het festivalseizoen komen ze met Happy To You. Happy To You bevat zoals verwacht veel dansbare maar toch indie klinkende nummers. Hits als The Devil's Work en Paddling Out staan er natuurlijk op, maar ook de niet-singles zijn van uitstekende kwaliteit. Soms wat donker (in Black Tin Box), soms juist vrolijk, en in Bavarian #1 ronduit bizar. Maar altijd [...]
When the Swedish-American music production three-piece Miike Snow released their self-titled debut album it was met with mixed reviews. After producing hits such as Britney Spears’ “Toxic” (co-written and co-produced by two members of the band, in the past when they are known hit makers Bloodshy & Avant) and their claim to fame, “Animal”, their follow up, Happy to You, might not be the that highly anticipated event their label said it was going to be. The trio’s sophomore album, Happy to You, is more carefully made and less immediate than their self-titled. This [...]

Album Review: Miike Snow, Happy to You
Happy to You starts out in formidable Miike Snow fashion with a relaxing and engaging sound. "Enter the Joker's Layer" captures you from the start with the groups ability to blend digitally appealing sounds around the harmonious voice of frontman Andrew Wyatt. " The Wave " comes in with a cavalry sounding drumline fit for a king. It is a song that focuses on the overall sound with a strong but softening drumline. This theme is carried out through the entirety of the album. Miike Snow made us wait 3 long years for their sophomore album but I am [...]

Miike Snow – Happy To You
Two thirds of Swedish outfit Miike Snow - namely Bloodshy and Avant (or Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg) - come with such hefty credentials that you can be forgiven for forming preconceptions of their independent work before listening. Saddling up with Britney, Madonna and Kelis amongst others, you would expect a certain level of grandeur when they branched out with their own group. Their 2009 self-titled debut in some way realigned this expectation, but with Happy to You they have completely demarcated themselves from the slick gloss of their production work without leaving behind any of [...]

Drake’s Take: New Releases 03.27.12
Justin Townes Earle Words : Drake Lelane I'm mostly back after an Amazon-related debacle. You'll notice there's no more links to Amazon here going forward, which has been a hassle, but the switch to in links to emusic, Insound and others should be better in the long run for users. I'll grant that Amazon was convenient, but a case can be made that they aren't good for the user or the artist. Missed The Shins last week, but our return is marked with Justin [...]
