What a year it has been. I was hesitant on compiling any "best of" lists, but decided to because it really was an exhilarating year for music. It seemed like anyone who was anyone dropped an album, mixtape, EP, LP or any other composition, and through the very... very bad shone some excellence which has me anticipating what the new year will bring. I've collected a randomized top 20 list of my favourite albums of 2011 and subsequent favourite album tracks (I thought a top 50 would've been a bit extra.) Everything I thought I liked was redefined by these albums [...]
Rain is coming later in the week, but for now I get to enjoy the sunshine and the coolness of a beautiful fall day. We did get out for a bit yesterday, but I ran into friends whom I haven't seen in ages, and we chatted for a long while so I didn't get as far as I'd hoped. Today Gracie and I will go down Cape; yesterday we went up Cape. For those of you wondering what directions I'm describing down-Cape means toward P-Town and up-Cape means toward the bridge. If anyone asked me east or west, I'd be [...]

Because of my negligence I've decided to compile a Top 52s list of singles I've constantly been rerunning over the past week or so. All singles have been released within at least the past couple of months and are sure to make you move, nod or smile. 1. Shlohmo- Just Us/ Year: 2011/ Album: Bad Vibes A very simple and unexpected song from the 20 year old California producer. Heavy, filled with bass and a definite emotion conjurer. Shlohmo- Just Us 2. Rewards [...]

D-Stern grew this beard during the 1998-99 NBA lockout In case you've been living under a rock this summer, lockouts have been all the rage . After 4 ½ months of lockout chit chat, yada yada yada , the NFL is back. The Eagles and Patriots have been acquiring free agents and malcontents like they're hotcakes. With the symbolic signing of the new CBA on the steps of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, the NFL should now be entering its version of the [...]

Download: OTiS CLaPP - Wasting Away ft. Scienze OTiS CLaPP drops another track "Wasting Away" featuring ScienZe & produced by Miles, taken from his upcoming Welcome Home Ralphie mixtape.
Today, we bring you a change of pace from our usual stuff, the Expose EP by Miles, a three-piece indie band out of Brooklyn, NY. We posted the single "Rust Belt" a few weeks ago, and Miles backs it up with 4 more songs that are all super tight, polished, and catchy. Typically, when I [...]

MODERN LOVE, 2011 // 123 / BUY Miles Whittaker's (aka MLZ and one half of Demdike Stare , Pendle Coven) first solo release under his own name for the Manchester-based Modern Love imprint doesn't disappoint. Facets is more club-friendly affair but it retains elements of Whittaker's heavy dub-infused sound. Limited to 700 copies for the world. Massive! You can listen to the entire EP below. Miles - Facets by modernlove

Although Brooklyn quartet MILES' current sound is best described as melodic alternative music, the bands' very name stands as an obvious and undeniable reminder of a treasured jazz past. However, there is more meaning to this moniker than just its obvious connection with an iconic trumpeter. "When we were in college, Ben and I played with other musicians at different colleges," recalls guitarist/vocalist Marc Plotkin. "We were traveling a lot, so people said the name had more to do with distance." Artistic restlessness, is addressed incisively with "Rust Belt", today's featured single from their Expose EP. [...]

Download: OTiS CLaPP "High Road" ft. YC the Cynic & Top $ Raz New music from OTiS CLaPP "High Road" featuring YC the Cynic, Top $ Raz & produced by Miles.
I know I typically post a lot of hip-hop stuff, but MILES is a chill indie band out of Brooklyn, NY that caught my attention. Right now, they're working on the release of their second album, but their single "Rust Belt" will be enough to hold you

I have no idea whether or not this one sheet for the upcoming Miles Davis biopic, Miles is real or not, it's probably fake, but it's quit nice. Love the colored paint coming out of the horn. Plus, who the hell wouldn't want to see Don Cheadle as Miles Davis.

Premonition drops a track from his latest series Sum is Greater , track titled "Mind Games" featuring OTiS ClaPP, Top $ Raz & produced by Miles.

Arctic Monkeys announce live shows audio: I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor Since their last album, Humbug, and the tour that went with it not very much has been heard of on the Arctic Monkeys front until now. Earlier on in the week Alex Turner announced that he was going to release a solo EP, titled Submarine, with the songs that he wrote for the film Submarine that recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. This news was followed by the announcement earlier today of two Arctic [...]
SomaCow took this week off. Enjoy our best of material by downloading every episode we've ever done, and writing down the SomaCow J "BullShit Thing of the Week"! I finally got my pedometer; it's pretty sweet! It does not create maps of where I have gone, but it DOES measure my steps really well, plus it does simple calcs of time walked, distance via stride calc, estimated kcals burned for my weight, etc. Thanks to TSDani http://www.truthseekerscast.co m/ and her random facebook link, it looks like I will be challenging myself. 150 miles [...]

My name is Geoff and I'm here to say, I love Fruity Pebbles in a major way! The Bedrock yellow orange purple lime and red, but to get that fruity taste, I gotta trick Fred. And by Fred, I mean DEATH. I miss fruit. God, I miss fruit. I miss it like my name was Seth and I just got banished from West Hollywood. I miss it big time. Right before I was diagnosed with diabetes, I was drinking fruit juice by the truck load. Fruit juice, it turns out, isn't really [...]
The second Catherine starts singing, you'll know why I'm posting about Belgian trio Mièle. Her voice is like cutting through a big, soft, pastel-coloured, supersweet birthdaycake. The band is part of the tres sympathique Humty Dumpty Records (they also house Françoiz Breut), they just released their second album. Music-wise, they're like the Walloon cousins of Peppermoon (more on that trio later this week), but a little rougher on the edges. Find out more here . Mièle - Chateaux de sable

When I moved out to Denver I had already been involved in the electronic music scene with in one way or another and was no stranger to all the different sub-genres. However, It took moving to the Mile High City to truly grasp the definition of filth. I have always been a fan of anything below 20hz, but was very new to BPMs of 140-180. The thriving dubstep scene here changed that, and I soon rediscovered an old friend in Drum and Bass. This brings me to NERO, two UK producers who make everything under the sun with a heavy [...]
