So this is pretty awesome. Tanline's have released an interactive music video for "Not The Same" - their latest single off of 2012's nearly perfect debut LP, Mixed Emotions . There are bound to be a few glitches as you do this, but it's nevertheless incredibly fun. The interactive video format allows you to select a setting (White House and Stonehenge are my favorites), as well as which instruments the Jesse and Ian are shown playing, their position on the screen, and other elements. Check out a couple more of my favorite screenshots below from my [...]

More late night talk show coverage for you here. This time, it was Tanlines to take to the stage of Jimmy Fallon last night, making their television debut performing the song "All Of Me" from their debut full length, Mixed Emotions. The song is one of the year's best, which kind of leads to the performance seeming lackluster for such an undeniably upbeat song. The duo does not disappoint, however, check out the performance below. Tanlines – “All Of Me” 12/6/2012 Jimmy Fallon [...]

2012 had more than a handful of impressive debut full-lengths, including Alabama Shakes' Boys & Girls , Porcelain Raft's Strange Weekend , and Jack White's Blunderbuss . The tracks below don't even begin to scratch the surface of debuts this year, but these are a few of my favorites. The buzz band of 2011 did not disappoint. If you have yet to give this record a chance, you're only hurting yourself. It's more than just "Southern rock". It's rock and soul [...]
In case you ever wondered how just two guys pulled off all of those crazy sounds on Mixed Emotions , you should watch Tanlines new video for "Not The Same". The video sheds new light on just how Eric Emm and Jesse Cohen [...]

Sorry for the delay, but here it is, the fourth and final post of my favorite albums of 2012 (so far). If I had to rank my favorite albums of the year today, at least three of the albums below would make the cut. But alas, I still have about 5 months to narrow it down, but please check back in December to see who makes the cut. If you haven't already, be sure to check out parts 1-3 ( part 1 // part 2 [...]
![[QUICKIE] Tanlines – MIXED EMOTIONS (w/ “All of Me”)](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4275949_lg.jpg)
pardon me for asking, pardon me for thinking, all of me is asking, all of me is thinking ♫ Tanlines - All of Me Tanlines once had promise . They have now delivered big time with a solid, textured album & even better 2-piece (!) live show . Hello summer. [ Quickies are mini-reviews that can fit into a 140 character tweet. They are of albums that people already know of but perhaps are curious about [...]

Tanlines: Mixed Emotions - Tanlines are an electro pop duo from New York City. Lately the 80s have influenced some of today's more talented electro artists and have made for some pretty interesting sounds and interpretations. Tanlines aren't any different taking cues from multiple 80s artists as diverse as Depeche Mode and Peter Gabriel, but it doesn't end there... Sure, evidence of Peter Gabriel and Depeche Mode are found all over this record, but they also have something of their own going here too. The clues are less [...]

I was skipping around the satellite radio channels the other day, trying to find something that suited my mood. I stumbled across Tanlines for a few seconds, decided I wanted to blast some EDM like a musically inept teenage raver, and went on with my life. But was I ever glad to arrive home, check my email, and be assigned to review this album. With summer fast approaching, Tanlines' Mixed Emotions is an experimental indie pop album that will be on repeat. The NYC band's debut opens up with "Brothers," which reminds me of some new wave [...]

Thanks to 2010’s Setting EP, relative newcomers Jesse Cohen and Eric Emm- known together as Tanlines- proved that they are capable of making first-rate dance tracks. However, they still had to prove themselves on their debut album. Yes, hopes were high for the full-length Mixed Emotions ; and, unlike the unfortunate sensation after which they were named (seriously, try rocking those things on vacation in a strapless bridesmaid dress), Tanlines don’t disappoint. Lead single “Brothers” is the album’s opening track, and it sets the scene beautifully. It shows what [...]
The new music video from Brooklyn dance-pop duo, Tanlines has premiered on Adult Swim . The track is pretty infectious in itself, but the video takes it to a new level. It features the band performing on a low-budget, late night show. They appear on an old TV when pops in a VHS cassette. There is a degree of stoic mystery to all the characters in what is seemingly a senior’s center. What results is one of the best examples of old people dancing awkwardly with another in very close quarters. They move around painfully stiff in extremely close-quarters, [...]

New video from Brooklyn's synthpop duo Tanlines . All Of Me is taken from Tamlines' latest album Mixed Emotions out now on True Panther.

Tanlines - Mixed Emotions By Nick Cowan Break out the piña colada’s! Get a Hawaiian shirt on! Well, that’s if Tanlines' eagerly awaited debut album Mixed Emotions is anything like their previous releases. The Brooklyn-based duo have been doing the rounds on the ol’ blogosphere since 2008, putting out heady summer remixes of The Tough Alliance, Memory Tapes and Au Revoir Simone that left you sunburnt just listening. Their EP Settings and their later EP with some remixes on were synth-pop at its best, [...]

I've heard murmurs of mixed reviews concerning Tanlines ' new album Mixed Emotions , so that's all I really knew about the album. But after watching the music video for "All of Me" my opinion is anything but mixed, it's absolutely excellent. So much so that I'm going to go download their new album. This is the second video/single off of off Mixed Emotions the first being " Brothers " which I'm currently enjoying as I type this.

The Brooklyn duo of Eric Emm and Jesse Cohen originally formed Tanlines as a remix project, which consisted of their friends singing with their music. However, as time went by, their music experimentation rapidly turned into a band. In March of 2010, the band released their debut EP, Settings. After touring extensively and releasing lots of remixes, Tanlines began to pop up on listener’s radars. The group became well known for their funky, house-music, electronic beats. Mixed Emotions, the band’s first full-length album, is an eclectic compilation of oddly ethnic rhythms, booming lyrics and mesmerizing melodies that create [...]

Tanlines ’ “All of Me”, which is one of the best singles of 2012, gets a weird new video. A cult full of awkward people dancing is what takes up most of the action here. The debut full-length, Mixed Emotions is out now . Tanlines - “All of Me”
