This first official documentary on the Hollies. This was a band that followed the Beatles in conquering America with the British invasion - and you'd be hard pressed to find a band who's sound changed so dramatically over time, but the quality of the music remained excellent. For you young'uns I'd go here first to hear more .

Wow... I can't wait for this one. The Quiet Beatle gets to speak up in this full length documentary by Martin Scorsese. Includes interviews with Eric Clapton, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, George Martin, Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, Tom Petty, Phil Spector, Ringo Starr and Jackie Stewart, the three-and-a-half hour documentary will examine Harrison's life and career.

Bye Bye Blackbirds "Fixed Hearts" Rainbow Quartz recent pick up is this Oakland band we reviewed way back , and they sound better than ever. "Elizabeth Park" sounds like Tom Petty playing with The Spongetones, it's a snappy jangle filled melody that impresses. The followup. "Open A Light" continues the warm feeling, with some sweet guitar chord shifts on this mid-tempo gem. The country beat makes "Jack Frost" a bit like Gary Louris (Jayhawks) with a Beatlesque twist - its my favorite track here. Another good song is "Every Night At Noon" [...]

The Zombies last reunion was to celebrate the 40 year anniversary of the great 1968 album Odessey and Oracle . But now we get all new material from the reunited Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent for Breathe Out, Breathe In . So if you expect the band to just pick up where it left off unscathed by time you're in for disappointment. However, by todays standards of shuffling oldies acts on tour you'll be fairly impressed by this batch of material and the undiminished skills of both Blunstone and Argent. Two milestones occurred today - Actor Tony Curtis passed away at age 85 and The Flintstones celebrate it's 50th anniversary. Google dedicated it's home page to the modern stone age family, so today my post will honor both. Formed in the Seattle smack in the middle of the grunge movement Harvey Danger's melodic rock came of age with "Flagpole Sitta" from the album Where Have All The Merrymakers Gone? in 1998. From that point on the band seemed to fade from public memory despite some excellent material getting released. Tony Peluso, the lead guitarist with the Carpenters for 12 years has passed away June 5. He is best remembered on the 1972 power ballad "Goodbye to Love," where he conceived and played the masterful, melodic solo and outro. This has long been my favorite Carpenters song and the solo never fails to bring back those painful teenage breakup memories. At SXSW, my favorite grrl rock band Girl in A Coma performed "Cherry Bomb" with original Runaways member Cheri Curri. It's about time The Runaways got their due in rock history, and with Girl In A Coma's connection to Joan Jett's label it made total sense.
