Instead of coming home from work and immediately turning on the television, something I'm...

Brian Lindgren, insomniac, Star Trek fan and sample connoisseur, has a knack for creating savory beats and we were fortunate enough to sit down with the brains behind the outfit, Mux Mool . Residing in Brooklyn with a collection of records, loops and keyboards, Mux Mool is set to release his newest full-length Planet High School on February 7 th with Ghostly International. From talk on the LP's foundation to New Year's resolutions, Lindgren spoke his mind as he racked up a Hamilton on the penny slots before his performance at SnowGlobe 2011. This is what [...]
Slow Magic ℳ.Ⅰ.✕. †.▲.℘.Σ. #3 (Fake Diamonds Clothing edition) ℳ.Ⅰ.✕. †.▲.℘.Σ. #3 (Fake Diamonds Clothing) by Slow Magic Our mysterious, hardest working, and favorite artist in the electronic industry at the moment (in my opinion at least) dropped a quick 20-minute signature ℳ.Ⅰ.✕. †.▲.℘.Σ. for Fake Diamonds Clothing (another fave) today, making that his third mix thus far.

Beacon , a Brooklyn duo whose nostalgia-laden, ambient pop themes tug in a way I haven't felt since Gayngs . I hope they're ready for the James Blake comparisons, but if they keep this up, there will be plenty of room for both of them. No Body is available digitally on Nov. 15 HERE . Listen to standout track See Through You

Starfawn continue to elevate the senses on the electro-pop earthquake they call "Err". It's also the first taste from the duo's highly anticipated self-titled EP due September 20th via Moodgadget .
Welcome to Label Picks for New Music . Every fortnight we invite a label to pick one up and coming band on their own label and another not associated with the label. This third edition features London-based Cascine where label co-owner Sandra Croft gives his picks for the best new music. Introduction Cascine is an experimental pop label based between New York, Washington DC and London. We've been going for almost a year now and have released albums and EPs from Chad Valley, Jensen Sportag, Selebrities, [...]

mp3: Teeel - Triangle Waves mp3: Teeel - Goodbye Teeel is New Jersey based producer Jim Smith, who makes electronic dream-pop that is "inspired by italo, electro and the 80s new wave movement". His debut album Amulet was released earlier this year on Moodgadget and is available now on iTunes . Be sure to check out Teeel's live performance at our Out In The Streets Music & Arts Festival in Brooklyn later this month. [...]
Moodgadget is presenting an amazing showcase of electronic music on August 30th at Glasslands (Brooklyn, NY). The artists featured on the bill have donated a killer set of exclusive tracks for free at ISO50 . The collection features Mux Mool, Teeel, André Obin, Foxes in Fiction, D. Gookin, Jacob 2-2, Beacon and Starfawn. The last two acts in the list are new to me but sound very promising, especially Starfawn 's "Diamonds are Dust". (via [...]

Zack is the only Christ you need to be occupied with this week, and again on June 7th when his debut release, Lucky Pork/Far East Side , drops on the consistently brilliant Moodgadget label. Dubstep, Minimal House and IDM all play an important role in Christ's music. That sounds like busy batch of genres to be associated with but I guarantee you'll find some space and solace in this entire six-song EP, which features ridiculous remixes from Shigeto, Danaet, Beautiful Bells, and a free [...]

The Tron film hype dissipated slowly a few months back. But we've yet to really see the end of it. Mogi Grumbles revisits the original Tron film of 1982 via a huge 20-track soundtrack rework. Its neither an edit nor a remix, but a completely original composition reimagined in a 21st century french house meets beat music styling: bright sweeping synths, classic Justice-esque build-ups and heavy glitchy basslines. Here's the video that comes with it, a full hour: The album released via Moodgadget , is available for free download, or you [...]

For serious fans of Com Truise and Ed Banger jams. Moodgadget artist Mogi Grumbles interprets the original TRON score with stunning results. Stream the entire set below.

I haven't been listening to ambient music lately, but this 19-minute opus caught my ear. The music of Radere (Carl Ritger) soars with a tone that matches the song title perfectly -- very calm with slow-moving waves. This is one of two extensive compositions that can be found on the upcoming Our Imaginary Birds EP, coming April 5th through the excellent Moodgadget imprint. Also, notice how the cover art instantly appears to be leaning [...]

Cascine and Moodgadget presents a collaboration between Nashville's Jensen Sportag and Teeel, aka Jim Smith from New Jersey. Remixing each other, both artists bring their unique styles and talents together. You can hear and download the result, below: Teeel - Ojai Valley (Jensen Sportag Remix) Grab it here . Jensen Sportag - Everything Good (Teeel Remix) Grab it [...]

With sounds of dreamy synthpop, Teeel's Amulet hypnotizes, a wall of electronic sounds fluctuating from a mild cascade to a driving pulse. The one-man project of Jim Smith, Teeel's debut LP professes a nostalgic love for the synthesizer, via compositions that combine the barely Balearic, Italo disco and new wave. Trying everything together are Smith's drowsy vocals that roll lazily amongst the beats. Fans of indie pop and drone electronica alike will find common ground with Amulet . Teeel's Amulet is out tomorrow [...]

This is my Saturday afternoon music. It's freezing cold outside but the sun's come out and everything's really still and quiet where I am - Teeel 's music is perfect this. The reason for Jim Smith's artistic name is simple: he records in a tiny teal coloured room crammed with vintage synths. Inspired by italo and movie marathons, his music borders on Valerie Collective style dreamy synthpop and chillwave. The result is a beautifully hazy, 80s day-time movie soundtrack, although sometimes I much prefer it without vocals. [Teeel - Dark Passenger] Download [...]

The soft, electronic drone of Jay Bodley's A Setting Sun is setting the phase and the tone for this Monday morning here in the Bad Fotography HQ aka my bedroom.) This is like the build up to an epiphany: the emotions captured so solidly with textured layers of sound in slow motion. I am listening to this and watching the white dust of snow slowly melting in the late morning sun. Dial81 has done a more upbeat, avant pop version of the track, I guess a more palatable version for people who don't [...]
I guess it can be said that Beautiful Bells fall into the 21st Century Beat Music movement, you know, like Lapti , AEED and the like. Except he's slightly more eclectic than that. Beautiful Bells is Justin Peake, and his beat music is the marriage between digital synthetic beats, organic homemade samples and the unexpected, odd bit of jazz - Moodgadget calls it "future jazz" - very well, sounds good to me. It's abstract melody-making through electronic and non-electronic sounds, inspired by Autechre, John Cage and Fela Kuti, certainly not for the impatient. [...]
Not the drug. Weed is Brooklyn-based bedroom artist, Willy "Flip" Anderson. This is so lo-fi its hurting my ears - in a good way. Cody is my favorite track of his new release, DC Hope . It's a typical surf americana track, but awashed with a kind of rawness you don't normally expect from a supposed chillwave song. This guy's more into his ambient / noise stuff and its prominent. W.G.A is another excellent lazy pop track, the guitars seem effortlessly easy but it's hitting all the right notes. And [...]
