Pay close attention because this is a bit confusing: Last week, we reported that AC Entertainment was rebranding and renaming its annual Moogfest as Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit, citing citing Moog Music Inc.’s decision not to re-license the Moogfest name. Asheville, NC's Moogfest is being renamed and rebranded. The festival's promoter AC Entertainment announced the news today, citing Moog Music Inc.'s decision not to re-license the Moogfest name. The festival's new name is Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit, and festivities will continue to take place in Asheville. After having to miss last years Moogfest due to some logistical confusion, I was fortunate enough to be able to make the trip this year to catch Day 1 of the annual Asheville, NC music festival, as well as catching a glimpse of the Moog Music Inc . factory before heading back to Atlanta. The walk between Moogfest' s U.S. Cellular Center and the much more intimate Orange Peel is approximately 18 minutes. Not too bad in festival terms, and instead of battling the hoard during that time, the hike is better spent grabbing a handmade crepe, petting some puppies, watching a few buskers, indulging in some fine chocolates, and/or sharing some stories over a microbrew with a local. Looking ahead, the weather for Moogfest 2012 seems much more forgiving than its 2011 edition. With temperatures expected to hover around 70° and rain a relative impossibility, even the skimpiest of Halloween ensembles will keep attendees protected as they wander through the festival's six venues and countless area-wide attractions.
