Today sees the premier of Moonface’s “Headed For the Door” - a black & white, visual feast of a music video directed by Marsha Balaeva. See it below. Recording under the moniker Moonface , Spencer Krug (Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown) has expanded on the minimalist sound of his first two albums in a new collaboration with Finnish krautrockers Siinai (Wolf Parade's touring buddies in 2009). "With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery" (out now via Jagjaguwar) flows with Sinai's well-known build-ups, but also caters to Krug's dark pop sensibility. I am a huge sucker for Spencer Krugs lyrical style and vocal delivery, there's a fantastical quality about it that still remains raw with emotion, it feels genuinely unique. Of course he is best known for his bands: Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown. His new focus is collaborative/solo project under the name Moonface; a project that I feel is fairly underrated. The last album he released earlier this year was doing with kraut rock band Siinai called, Heartbreaking Bravery . "I'm Not The Phoenix Yet" is the third song to have a video made for from the album. In Spencer Krug 's dense, sprawling musical domain, bands come and go — whether that means putting Wolf Parade on indefinite hiatus or seemingly neglecting his former side-project Sunset Rubdown — on an almost annual basis.
