Whenever I hear 'electronic music' and any form of 'David' in the same breath I can't help but think about that lead single from The Radio Dept's third album and so that's what I thought when I saw this. I don't know if DAVIDS knows about that band but it doesn't matter (even if the vocal affectations are similar). DAVIDS' 'Dead Walkie' is that cool kind of hazy, understated dance track that reminds me of Niva . Like, you can't help but think of sunlight and love even though Mitch Bowden's vox are saying things like I [...]

Words: Saam Das Our belated tips for 2013 saw London solo artist YADi make her way into our top ten ones to watch for the rest of the year. To be honest, I'm a tad surprised she's not already more of name. But these things take time and with tracks like recent single 'The Blow' and this free download of 'Unbreakable', I'm still confident YADi has a bright future. She also plays The Great Escape [...]

It's quite odd to find Jazmine Sullivan on Jah Cure's new tune after she's been M.I.A. for what seems like months. Usually, she belongs to Tins, but I know her material's a double-edged sword for him. He loves when her records pop up, but he hates it so because it reminds him - and all of us - how silky her voice is...and we so rarely get to hear her. What's worse, "Choose Up" displays her and Jah Cure going back and forth over a lover who can't decide where she wants to be. Torn [...]

In February of 2012, The Dodos ' member Christopher Reimer tragically passed away, and in the year that's followed the band have written and recorded a new album, influenced by their late guitarist. Carrier , which will be released on August 27th, will be released via Polyvinyl after the band left Frenchkiss , the label that they'd been with since their debut album Visiter in 2008. [...]

Denny Bowen played drums in the great Baltimore punk trio Double Dagger until that band broke up, and now he leads the fired-up sludge-rock quartet Roomrunner. Bowen's new band are about to release Ideal Cities , an album of flattening riffery and boundless energy, and it's one of the better slabs of old-school fuzz-heavy underground rock that you're likely to hear this year. Stream the anthemic opening track "Bait Car" at Soundcloud . Ideal Cities is out 5/28 on Fan Death .

There aren't many things more on trend right now than a Brooklyn synth-pop duo, which is good news for Holy Ghost because that happens to be exactly what they are. Having impressed with 20112s self-titled debut album the pair are back armed with a new record, Dynamics , set for release this autumn. It's first single, 'Dumb Disco Ideas', is a glorious, glorious thing. It starts in modest LCD Soundsystem-esque pop song trappings and over the course of its eight minutes develops into something utterly transcendent. The video, which delightfully uses New York [...]
San Fransisco duo The Dodos release new album, Carrier , in August and have today unveiled it's first single, 'Confidence'. The release is the first of the band's since the passing of touring guitarist Christopher Reimer in February of last year and singer Meric Long has explained the influence of Reimer on the new material. “Chris was a huge influence on the way I think about guitar, songwriting, and music in general,” reveals Long. “Seeing how he could transform and shape sound with an electric guitar inspired me to [...]
The introverted British electronic duo Mount Kimbie's new album Cold Spring Fault Less Youth arrives in a couple of weeks, and we've posted the LP tracks " Made To Stray " and " Blood And Form ." And on "You Took Your Time," another one from they album, they link in with the rumble-voiced young London singer-songwriter King Krule, whose angry-stoned spoken-word musings make a pretty ideal track for their hazy downtempo. Stream the track below. Read More...

If you're having trouble waiting until June 4th to hear the highly-anticipated debut album from Disclosure , then we're here to help you get through the next three weeks alive. Today the brothers took to BBC Radio One's Maida Vale studios to perform a live session, which just so happened to include this brand new cut "F For You" , with the "F" standing for "Fool", just in case you were thinking it stood for Fibonacci (like I did). Settle [...]
I approached this song with some trepidation after GvsB labelled this one a "glorious 9+ minute vocoder jam," because I don't think I'll ever consciously choose to listen to a vocorder for any amount of time longer than a few minutes. Fortunately this one lives up to its adjective, and the song flies by. This one's from Italians Do It Better's long awaited After Dark II compilation, which will finally be released this Friday! “Let’s Kiss” was written the same week as “Under Your Spell” in November [...]

Thoughtful bars and a lucid, horn-laden beat? Thank Gliss for this one. "Inner Visions" is heavy on the introspection, sending listeners on a deep, deep journey through the id of the Philadelphia phenom. Those willing to take the proverbial leap, take heed, and be on the lookout for High On A Weekday , dropping soon.

Unless you're a dedicated soul connoisseur , you probably only know Mayer Hawthorne from his feat. on Sebastian's brilliant 'Love In Motion' back in 2011. Well, this guy and his smooth voice have been around for a while, with three albums to his name and a string of guest appearance and production credits to boot. Although we haven't really covered Hawthorne's music before, seeing Jessie Ware's name (we know you've heard of her) got our ears pricked, as the Mercury Award nominated songstress has a pretty great track record when it comes to collaborations. The pair have worked together on [...]

Photo Credit : Kadie Foppiano "St. Louis-based band Picture Day emerged from the demise of the local group Team Tomato, a band of young, single men in love with The Who, Guided By Voices, and middle-era Bowie. Attempting to live up to the myths of their heroes, both onstage and off, it was only a matter of time before Team Tomato ran its course. Brian Weigert, Picture Day’s lead singer, occasional guitarist and principal songwriter, spent his first few post-Tomato Team years in the country music world, recording a well-received album with the Red Headed Strangers [...]

Real Estate guitarist Matt Mondanile's other band, Ducktails, released one of 20132s most unjustly overlooked LPs, The Flower Lane , an album so dreamily, wondrously relaxed that it should seriously come with the same warning label you'd find stuck to the side of a bottle of Vicodin. Now, Mondanile's Real Estate bandmate, bassist Alex Bleeker, is set to release a new one from his own side project, Alex Bleeker & The Freaks, the title of which is How Far Away , and the content of which is almost as chilled-out as The Flower [...]

Oxford four-piece MMX released their debut EP earlier this year. A collection of ice cold synth-pop beauties, these are dark diamonds that shine very brightly. The group have just unveiled a video for it's closing track, 'Ritual'. The monchrome clip sees the band perform the track in near darkness, which nicely captures the sound of this nocturnal noise. The track itself is strong. Shards of synth and spacey guitar weave in and out of each other underneath an emotive, soaring vocal. Basically, it's really good yeh. MMX's Child EP is out now [...]

We've given every tip of the hat we possibly could to The 1975 . So at this point, we're just going to post their latest track "fallingforyou" - a smooth, electronic, R&B-tinged jam - and hope you'll take our word that it's superb. Stream it below. "fallingforyou" appears on The 19752s upcoming I V EP, due out May 20th via Dirty Hit / Vagrant . DC: Come catch the 1975 at a special edition of All Things Gold on June 20th at U Street Music [...]
