This new track from California's Geneva Miller is dreamfolk personified. Languid synths, floaty vocals and a lightly picked guitar make up the majority of The Apple Tree , a song that almost appears to consist of one long chorus, yet a sparklingly good one at that. The repetitive line " leave me be, underneath the apple tree " features numerous times throughout the track, yet is intoxicatingly addictive. Check out The Apple Tree below. Check out the psychedelic new video for 120 Days' "Dahle Disco", co-produced with fellow Norwegian DJ/electronic artist Lindstrøm. The video was made by Joakim Faxvaag, the band's live visual designer who's been traveling with them around the world several times over for the last three years. Wow, am I glad I read my emails tonight. This new track from California's Tree is a wonderfully diverse affair, swinging between melancholic piano balladry, to harmonica driven folk-pop, touching on hip hop elements along the way. Sampling the sound of s 'homies gameboy played through an arpeggiator', you're unlikely to hear a song as vibrant, intense or simply enjoyable as Universal for the rest of the year. Flatsound's I Clung To You Hoping We'd Both Drown was one of my favourite releases of last year, and is still a regular player on tiresome bus journeys. His new track is another example of his criminally underrated eloquence and knack for transferring his thoughts into musical form. Retelling the story of a relationship in turmoil and questioning the authenticity of their partners love, If You Love Me, Come Clean is devastatingly relatable, which ultimately, is what makes it such a fantastic listen. Austin's Bug Machine , the solo project (I assume) of the as yet unnamed man in the picture above, has a knack for writing insanely catchy synth-pop songs. This debut track from Paris's Waterwalls may well be 'chillwave by numbers', but hey, if it works, why change it, right? So it's very much Neon Indian meets Washed Out , yet it's arguably better than half the tracks on either of the respective albums released by those two artists last year. Synth heavy and vocals burdened with reverb, Lonely Day isn't carving out new genres, and it's certainly not going to spawn a host of copycat artists, however simply put, it doesn't need to. Yet another act gracing the pages of CitR whom seemingly have sprung up out of nowhere. Their debut track Paris 1 has a rough round the edges feel to it, yet the refined shine of a well-produced indie gem. It's remorseful and thought-provoking in parts, relying upon the Interpol like guitar line to carry the track. Death To Dreaming float with such ease that it's impossible to find any flaws in particular, with Paris 1 sidling by with an effervescent charm. Check out Paris 1 [...]
