"At times it reaches glorious peaks, but for too long feels like a poor rehash of what’s come before. The sound of a band penned in by their own sound..." Mumford & Sons | Babel It was 13 th February 2011 when Marcus Mumford and his band of merry men must have realised that their brand of banjo-toting folk-pop had got bigger than anyone ever could have expected. For this was the day that, with waistcoats on, neck ties tied and trucker cap firmly clamped on top of brow, Mumford & Sons performed [...]

And The Cave was my favourite track of the bunch - enough so that I introduced it on the Contrast Podcast end of year countdown . But now they are releasing it as a single on 1st March, which is great news if you want a copy on 45 and in the fact that they have done a video. I would give tour dates as they [...]

The latest work from London based anti-folk heroes ‘ Mumford and Sons ’, is one of their most uplifting and best to date. Although they are placed within the emerging London folk scene, there is something unique and magical about the four piece. ‘The cave and the open sea’ arrives with an intoxicating subtle guitar line that compliments vocalist ‘Marcus Mumford’ perfectly. With the addition of piano underneath, the cascading drums and banjo it is a song hard not to warm too. Especially towards the end when singer (Marcus) vocals become so passionate that [...]
