Hem: Departure and Farewell - Over the past fifty years, the percentage of people living in urban areas has increased drastically. In America, nearly 80 percent of us live in major metropolitan cities, leaving a scant 20 percent to tend to the sprawling rural areas that make up most of the country. That’s why it’s so refreshing to come across an artist that emphasizes the unity of urban and rural, celebrating the similarities that exist between them instead of the differences that set them apart. Hem is a band that takes [...]
![[Watch] Lollapalooza’s Official Lineup Announced](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4864078_lg.jpg)
On August 2-4th, Lollapalooza returns to Grant Park for another year of ridiculousness. Perhaps the biggest headline is Chance The Rapper's closing set at the BMI Stage, Friday night. While it's no surprise the rising star is performing, a closing set is definitely going to turn some heads. The bill features headliners including, The Killers, Nine Inch Nails, The Cure, Phoenix, Mumford & Sons, Vampire Weekend and more. Other notable acts are Kendrick Lamar, Major Lazer, Ellie Goulding, Thievery Corporation, Grizzly Bear, 2 Chainz, Wavves, Bauuer, and the list continues after the jump. 3-day passes go on sale Wednesday.

What would music Monday be without someone like Mumford & Sons releasing some new tunes. This time in the form of a new music video for their single "Whispers In The Dark" that follows the band members along 4 different storylines that are all occurring at the same time, only to meet up in the end right before a big show. Kind of like Mumford's version of 24, except it's actually watchable. Check it out below and grab the new album Babel which is out now. [...]

You either love Mumford & Sons or you hate them, there really is no in between. I understand peoples gripes with the alternative/folk band, but I enjoy their music. For their latest single off Babel , "Whispers in the Dark," the boys released a new official video. The visual splits into 4 screens and follows each member as they make their way to a show. A pretty simple concept, yet a great way to be entertained still. Watch below. Fresh? [...]
We can only assume, after watching the Haim sisters' cameo as Mumford & Sons ' stylists in the new video for "Whispers in the Dark," that Marcus is doing the dishes.
The boys of Mumford & Sons are back with the video for their new single, "Whispers In The Dark." The video is split into four parts, following each band member as they make their way to a show. The imagery in the video keeps it simple (as simple as a split screen 4-ways can be) so you can focus on the song. Keep your eyes pealed for a cameo from it-girls band of the moment Haim as banjo player Wintons stylists.
Mumford and Sons are truly an explosive band, and you haven't had the chance yet, well ... do yourself a favor and catch them live at a gig. Totally worth it! Still, ever wondered how the band gets ready for a gig? Their latest music video for " Whispers in the Dark " - a vocal heavy and resonant song filled with classic Mumford vibe - tries to showcase this idea. Without further ado, check out Ted Dwane and his fake beard, while the rest of the band prep like they know best, either running through traffic, dusting off [...]

After the "who we lost" montage at last night's Grammys detailing the many legendary musicians and music industry vets who passed away over the last 12 months, Mavis Staples, Mumford and Sons, Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, Elton John, T-Bone Burnett and Zac Brown paid tribute to the last person listed in the montage, The Band drummer Levon Helm , by performing The Weight. Elton introduced the tune and dedicated The Weight not only to the musicians we lost but also to the Sandy Hook school victims [...]

If you've been in a public space with a radio in the past two years, chances are you've been treated to the folksy, stomping phenomenon that is Mumford and Sons . Hold that thought. Perhaps a set of untrained ears (or ears trained by Coolio and Common ) leads to the easy and somewhat lazy comparison of Britsh band Thumpers' "Dancing's Done" to Mumford's anthemic bread and butter. A closer listen reveals something more at work. While the riotous, wave-Guinness-high heights of Mumford seem an obvious point of reference, stomping drums and small, glitchy [...]

When we posted our 10 Best Indie Christmas Songs we limited our list to yuletide jamz that actually exist. Animal New York took a different tack, imagining what holiday songs would sound like if they were covered by folks like Bon Iver, the xx, Wavves, Beach House, Das Racist, and others. (Adam Horne of Bear Ceuse is responsible for the impressions.) The faux collection is called Merry Indie X-Mas and it's pretty amusing. Watch a satirical commercial for it and stream the tunes below. "The folk revival that started in 2006 has now all but run out of venues big enough to confine it..." Mumford & Sons | The 02 Arena 18.12.12 There is a strange paradox in Mumford & Sons headlining the 02. A band so associated with – and vilified for – their connection with the antique, the historic and the backwards doesn’t naturally fit alongside the cavernous modern mecca of corporate entertainment sitting on the bank of the river Thames. As well as the main feature, with tonight’s support coming courtesy of the now-Americana-dust-inspired Mystery [...]

My mom told me once that we were all born into this world with a special talent that's unique to us. Well I'm sure glad excellence in handfarting isn't my skill, but I can still appreciate the HandFartMaster . This gentleman has shared his "Handmonica" talents with the world through covers posted on his YouTube channel. Let's start with HFM's take on Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd... Though I wasn’t very enthusiastic about Mumford & Sons ’ second album titled ‘Babel’ , one of the songs I really enjoy listening to is Lover Of The Light and now, coincidence or not, the band has released a video to accompany the song. The band members themselves don’t take part in the video directed by Dan Cadan and as most of us know him Stringer Bell, one of the good bad-guys in The Wire, or as his mother knows him Idriss Elba. Not only did Elba direct the video he [...]
