AP Foo Fighters are on a real tear. The band just picked up their fourth statue of the night for Best Rock Performance on the strength of their song 'Walk.' The band was up against Coldplay , the Decemberists , Mumford & Sons and Radiohead for the award. The Foos had previously won Best Rock Song for 'Walk,' Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance for 'White Limo' and Best Long Form Music Video for 'Back and Forth.'
Filed under: News , Awards Steve Granitz, WireImage The Foo Fighters are cleaning up at the Grammys. In the pre-telecast ceremony, Dave Grohl and company walked away with four statues: Best Rock Album for 'Wasting Light,' Best Rock Song for 'Walk,' Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance for 'White Limo' and Best Long Form Music Video for 'Back and Forth.' The Foos are no strangers to the awards show. Each of the band's [...]

It's easy to feel over-fatigued from award shows right now. They all sort of bump into one another at the same time. Though, given that the Oscars dropped the ball, skipping a handful of solid releases and performances, and that the Grammys still feel like, "one giant industry jerk-off where the ones who pushed the most quantity are rewarded for quality," as Alex Young put it so eloquently last year, who in their right mind cares? Well, America does. If Twitter is any indication, millions of people still tune in and actually gripe about the wins and losses; [...]

Watch the promo for the documentary following their tour round American on a vintage train.....

Ano passado, o Mumford and Sons se juntou às bandas Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros e Old Crow Medicine Show para uma turnê pelos Estados Unidos, a The Railroad Revival Tour . Rolou shows em escolas, mini festivais, e claro, dentro do trem. O resultado de tudo isso [...]

During the spring of 2011, Mumford and Sons , Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros , and Old Crow Medicine Show toured the U.S. aboard a train as part of The Railroad Revival Tour . When not performing live, the bands ate, slept, and recorded music on some 15 vintage railcars. Now, as NME points out, their experience has been documented in an upcoming film entitled the Big Easy Express . According to press for the project, the film highlights the "bands' vibrant railway adventures; the high [...]
Filed under: News Glassnote I'm a huge fan of Spotify and tend to be outspoken when technophobes in the music industry make things difficult for companies helping to develop solutions for the broken system. Remember Lars Ulrich 's anti-Napster commercials? He's since learned a thing or two about the web, yet somehow Coldplay still choose money over access . Isn't it a bit ironic that Daughtry was the first [...]
By Raghav Mehta The Current, located at 89.3 on the FM dial, is far from just another a radio station. Over the past seven years, it has transformed into somewhat of a Twin Cities institution

In retrospect, with a name alluding to the famous novella written by one of my favorite authors (John Steinbeck), it was inevitable that I would explore the music of the band Of Monsters and Men. This six-piece indie/folk band is just the latest Icelandic group to emerge from the small, remote island that seemingly produces more internationally-acclaimed musicians than it should, joining the likes of Sigur Rós, Björk, Emiliana Torrini and the last artist I interviewed, Ólöf Arnalds. In 2010, Of Monsters and Men broke onto the Icelandic music scene when they won the nation-wide battle [...]

The Secret Policeman's Ball at Radio City Music Hall (03/04/12) The Secret Policeman's Ball is letting America in on the party: The British-based music and comedy festival is coming to New York in March. Coldplay, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Mumford & Sons and Russell Brand are among the acts who have signed on for the event at Radio City Music Hall on March 4. The concert will benefit Amnesty International, as it has since it started back in 1976 with celebrities [...]

Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Russell Brand and more will also be there.

The Oh Hello's is a brother/sister duo out of Angelton, Texas, which cite acts such as Mumford & Sons and Los Campesinos! as some of their sources of influence, so you can imagine what they might sound like. As described by the duo, they've created a "unique mixture of eclectic folk rock," a beautiful combination of honesty and heart. Their self-titled EP was released back in December and can be purchased on their Bandcamp at a price of your choice. A stand-out off of the EP is the first track, "Hello [...]
As we move into a new year, one of the strangest pieces of news has been revealed. Album sales in 2011 actually went up for the first time in almost a decade. Granted it was mostly due to Adele's incredibly popular album...that still proves that the album as a musical format is still very viable. And while all the news articles still like to pronounce the death of rock and how pop has

2012 is poised to be one of the greatest years in music in awhile. Why? Well, I'll give you a hint: it isn't because Justin Bieber is set to have an album coming out. In fact, I don't even know whether that's true or not. It's exciting because Phoenix, Spoon, Delta Spirit, Mumford & Sons, P.O.S., Passion Pit, Animal Collective, The Shins, Brother Ali, Dr. Dre, Miike Snow, Lana Del Rey, Andrew Bird, Sleigh Bells , and the xx are poised to release albums. That's not even including all of the new or smaller bands that will [...]

Here's my take at the standout tracks of 2011, all of which got a lot of PT on my iTunes this past year. Tried to minimize repetition from the other lists as much as possible, so be sure to check out Jordone's top ten list as well, which had a lot of serious contenders for me and a couple I had to re-post. 10. Mumford and Sons- "The Cave (Sound Remedy Remix)" 9. Nero - "Me & You" 8. [...]
In its 54th year, what do the Grammy's even mean anymore?

Shirt of the Year: Brian Posehn's Exodus shirt, right, and the runner-up's "Cheap Ass Slayer shirt." (Click to enlarge) Is there anything worse than these "Best Of" and "Worst Of" lists around this time of year? How about endless re-posts of Christmas music? Ha ha. I know you're just kiddin'. Me too! But, ah, seriously ... there was a lot of good music this year and a handful of really good albums. We won't bore you with what we think is the best - we don't know ourselves - but here are some things [...]
