It's not most the biggest or the best thing in the world, but water slides and family make for good times no matter what! But, it's funny, as you can read by the title, we are presenting a summer themed mixtape today, a mixtape compiled by the best music community ever, i.e. Our Society , but man, the weather today and yesterday [...]
Filed under: The Hit List The summer of 2000 belonged to ' Thong Song ' and ' Who Let the Dogs Out .' The dog days of 1997 would have been unrecognizable without ' MMMBop .' But the truly timeless songs of summer are the ones written about the season itself. These all-time summer hits are hotter than black vinyl car seats in Arizona and more fun than running through the sprinkler. 10. ' In the Summertime ,' Mungo [...]

This week is National Bike Week in Ireland (June 14-21). According to its website, it is a week devoted to "a series of nationwide events organised by cycling groups, communities and local authorities supported by the Department of Transport." These events have included inititiaves aimed at getting Irish workers to cycle to work instead of taking their cars, free bike check ups, and sponsored cycles and races. In tandem with National Bike Week, the Department of Transport hope to implement the first National Cycle Policy Framework in this country. One of its main goals is to [...]

All I can say is... sorry, guys. I've been nagging at myself to post on here for some time now, and while I wish it were some great tragedy that kept me from you, it was mostly plain laziness. I can say, however, that I was about to post here when I suddenly, devastatingly, and accidentally deleted most of my library of music (don't worry! After crying for several hours I realized I had a backup). That aside, here I am again. Hopefully that won't happen any more but I'm not making any promises. Phew, now that that's out of [...]
No, it's not a mash-up. The intentionally deceiving title refers to the eerily similar openings to two of the songs released by these two hit '70s groups. Your first task is to listen to these two tracks: MP3: T. Rex-Bang a Gong (Get It On) MP3: Mungo Jerry-Little Miss Hipshake Got it? To find out which one possibly stole from the other (or just the chronological order in which they were released), continue reading... [...]
. Sutherland Brothers - Sailing.mp3 Rod Stewart - Sailing.mp3 Our friend RH has supplied me with scores of lesser known originals. The biggest surprise of these perhaps was that Rod Stewart's Sailing was in fact a cover version. Written in 1972, it was first recorded by the Sutherland Brothers. Having joined forces with the band Quiver, the brothers were also responsible for another possible
. The Leaves - Hey Joe, Where Are You Going Love - Hey Joe Tim Rose - Hey Joe (You Shot Your Woman Down) The genesis of Hey Joe is disputed, with some claiming it is an old traditional folk song. There seems to be wide consensus, however, that it was written in the early 1960s by a folk singer called Billy Roberts, who may well have borrowed from a 1950s country song by the same title written by
Deaf Indie Elephants recorded this great cover of Devendra Banhart throwing some love to perhaps the greatest summer song ever, Mungo Jerry's "In the Summertime." He doesn't deviate much from the song and I never thought I'd miss the washboard in this lazy, ramshackle of a song, but it's a good cover and a great way to start the morning. Mp3: Devendra Banhart - "In the Summertime" It cracks me up everytime he sings the line "When the weather's fine you got women [...]
Leaving. I was torn weather or not to post about my impending vacation. A) because it literally ruins the "surprise" visit I have in store for my parents of whom I haven't seen since Thanksgiving, and B) because it gives all you fockers a reason not to visit the best damn music blog on the planet for several days til my return. Welp, fock you fockers. Here's the last post for a couple days. I dont have anything epic from the inbox or really any HC bangers from my recent playlists. These are even anything related to [...]

Temperatures over the weekend here in Vermont peaked at 93 degrees, with a nice dose of humidity to boot. Summer has officially returned to Vermont. I'm not a huge fan of excessive, damp heat, but warmer temperatures are always nice after a Vermont winter. Here's a handful of songs to help celebrate: In The Summertime - Mungo Jerry Boys of Summer - Don Henley Summer - Goodtimes Goodtimes [...]

92 + Degrees?? Yoooo boy. In the Summertime - Mungo Jerry Hot Hot Hot - Buster Pointdexter

Lovely weather has been blessing Sweden most of May but now as we enter June there's no worry to sound P.I, politically incorrect, when saying that it's summer now! Whatever you may or may not choose to do the summer of 2008 , I hope it will be of pleasure for you! As for me, I haven't really planned much. I hope to catch a few live shows, get a nice natural tan and make some money from my summer job too. Hence, I wish to make [...]
oldies // summertime pop Not too much to say. But anyone in Boston today can agree with me.. Summer has arrived. Mungo Jerry - In The Summertime buy this cd

It's official: today is the first day of summer. I know it might seem like I'm jumping the gun a little, but I have to call it like I see it. Today for the first time since September I wasn't the only person in Dunkin' Donuts ordering an iced coffee, bikinis reappeared in the Quad courtyards, and I've been miserable in my dorm without air conditioning. The arrival of summer means that summer music is close behind. Summer [...]
