Pageants are a Long Beach trio led by former Avi Buffalo member Rebecca Coleman. They have released a solid 73 single that should set the table for their eventual debut album. The 73 features two tracks, "Musings Of The Tide", and "August Moon." "Musings Of The Tide" is a California minded sunny slab on lo-fi garage rock that briefly made me forget about the work of Nemo. "August Moon" leans more on a slower ballad side, but is just as comforting in its own way. The 73 is on a limited 500 copy run pressed [...]

You’ve got to hand it to The Joy Formidable : they’ve been incredibly busy over the past couple of years. Since the release of their last album, The Big Roar , this Welsh trio have been on David Letterman, opened for Muse and the Foo Fighters , played at Leeds and Reading both times, and toured the world in support of the album. They’ve gained recognition as one of the best live bands playing today. And yet, somehow, they've managed to write [...]

Some Kind of Mixtape - September from skoablog on 8tracks Radio . It's the most wonderful time of the yearrrrrrr.... well, for releases anyways. "An album that has something for everyone, but doesn’t have everything for anyone..." Muse | The 2nd Law Since their appearance on the scene over a decade ago, Muse have created one of the most unique sounds in rock. Combining the one-of-a-kind vocals of lead singer Matt Bellamy with incredible guitar riffs and supporting instrumentals, there is currently no other band that can do what Muse does. However, in The 2 nd Law , the band seems like they can’t quite decide the new direction they want to take. It [...]
While promoting their strange new album, The 2nd Law , Muse stopped by BBC's Live Lounge and performed this raucous, very Muse -y cover of classic Prince song "Sign O' The Times." They do away with the song's minimal charm and quite simply make it their own. Check it out: Read more articles like " Muse covers Prince "Sign O' The Times" " on Pretty Much Amazing . One week before it's set for release and we have the brand new album from Muse to enjoy. Titled The 2nd Law there's been a lot of talk online since that video got posted, you know the one with the dubstep sound which turned out to be a track titled " Unsustainable ". The full package contains a mixed bag of songs ranging from the aforementioned [...]
We have already heard the befuddling, yet kind of addicting in a ridiculous 2012-end-of-days kind of way "Unsustainable," now check out the official first single from Muse 's upcoming album The 2nd Law . New Muse: “Unsustainable” The dubstep-inflected "Madness" takes its time to make its point, but once it does, it's as enjoyable as Muse's other airy ballads ("Starlight" comes to mind). You can hear the rest of The [...]
If you follow me personally on Twitter, or SKOA , you may have seen me tweet a link last night to a new Muse track. The track in question is the one everybody dreaded, the dubstep track they previewed in their album trailer for The 2nd Law . Yesterday evening the band took to Twitter once more and announced a pre-order for the deluxe version of their album. Pricey as it may be, it came with two exclusive videos. One was available immediately and the second is to be made available to [...]

Muse get on some Queen-opera type shit for their lead single "Survival". I hear this is the office song for the 2012 Olympics. What do you think of it? It's triumphant, which you expect from Muse, but not all I would like their return to be. LIKE New Jawn on Facebook!

As announced earlier, Muse have just premiered the first single from their forthcoming album The 2nd Law . It's titled "Survival" and is out now, it's also been named as the official song of the London 2012 Olympics. Zane Lowe premiered the track on Radio One along with a pre-lude. Following the album tease which featured a bit of dubstep "Survival" delivers an interesting big sounding piano intro before the finger clicks and high pitched vocal beat kicks in. Layers of vocals build up on top of Matt's voice and then the guitar riff drops. [...]
Will music eventually become free? Will it cost little to nothing for listeners to hear any album they want? Will buying physical releases and supporting artists become old hat?
