Muse are set to release their genre hopping album The 2nd Law next week on October 1st, and last night they performed their first bit of promotion on UK television with 2 performances on the return show of Later... with Jools Holland . One week before it's set for release and we have the brand new album from Muse to enjoy. It's little under a month now until we can expect to be listening to the new album, The 2nd Law , from Muse . Today though the band release the first official video for their lead single, "Madness". It features all of the band in one form or another. Chris plays some cool looking Kaoss pad infused Bass guitar, Dom bashes a huge gong and Matt looks on brooding as around the the world riots in the underground station. To celebrate the release of their sixth studio album, The 2nd Law , Muse have announced that they have been added to iTunes festival in London with an intimate show at the Roundhouse that'll take place on Sunday September 30th. If you want to be in with a chance of seeing Muse in such a tiny venue you'll have to enter the competition via the iTunes Festival website here . "Unsustainable" may have been the first track that we heard from upcoming album The 2nd Law but "Madness" is the official first single and, while Unsustainable" is catching quite a bit of flack for its liberal use of dubstep, I like it much more than "Madness". There's just nothing that sets this track apart from anything else. There's no swelling orchestrations, no guitar solo that raises to the rafters. Following up the previously heard Olympic track " Survival " and the bands dabble into the dubstep sound we all kind of dreaded in " Unsustainable ", but tonight Muse will premiere another new track from their forthcoming album, The 2nd Law . Titled "Madness" it will be played on radio stations today and will be available to download shortly after. A lot has been said about Muse since the teaser trailer for The 2nd Law , their 6th studio album, was released in early June. Some comments were from fans in disgust and others welcomed the new sound as an obvious next step for the band. I, for one, am with the latter group but that's not to say that the entire album is going to be a dubstep tribute. In an interview with Huffington Post Bellamy says that they went to see Skrillex live and were blown away by the reaction of the audience [...]

The track in question is the one everybody dreaded, the dubstep track they previewed in their album trailer for The 2nd Law . As tension builds in the lead up to Muse releasing their sixth studio album, The 2nd Law , the band are up to their usual tricks and yesterday afternoon started posting pictures to their twitter account every 10 minutes. It turns out it's their new album artwork and it's a rather interesting idea. They've used a "Neuro image supplied courtesy of the Human Connectome Project, Laboratory of Neuro Imaging, UCLA." Muse gave every fan a fright with their album trailer for The 2nd Law with the dubstep element it involved. Last week though heart rates dropped a little (before maybe rising again in excitement) when they let loose the official song of the London 2012 Olympics, " Survival ". It's pure Muse cheese at its best and you can now watch the official visual accompaniment up at the top which features footage from past Olympic Games the world over. As announced earlier, Muse have just premiered the first single from their forthcoming album The 2nd Law . It's titled "Survival" and is out now, it's also been named as the official song of the London 2012 Olympics. Zane Lowe premiered the track on Radio One along with a pre-lude. Following the album tease which featured a bit of dubstep "Survival" delivers an interesting big sounding piano intro before the finger clicks and high pitched vocal beat kicks in. Layers of vocals build up on top of Matt's voice and then the guitar riff drops. [...]

My twitter feed practically blew up last night as news broke of a new Muse track being premiered today (Jun. 27th) on Zane Lowe's Radio One show. Every one was a little suspect though as there was no official word from the band regarding it. Today the news has been made official and contrary to reports that "Unsustainable" was said track it is in fact "Survival". Following the news of a new Muse album yesterday , the three piece from Devon have now followed it up with a tour announcement.Scheduled for later in 2012 the band will play dates around Europe including the UK. The internet kind of blew up yesterday when the band posted the new teaser mainly because of the dubstep vibe it gave of. I'm still kind of waiting for them to say "ahhh, joke's on you" as these guys are a funny bunch... Or that the snippet we heard is the only dub aspect the album will contain and [...]

Muse has just released a trailer for their upcoming album The 2nd Law which will be the band's 6th studio album in a catalog that has increasingly gotten more and more politically charged with each release. The trailer doesn't make it look like they're going to be backing off the pressure any time soon though. The video starts out with what I have to assume is an audio clip from the album and sounds like what you'd expect from Muse with heavy orchestrations but the sound takes a drastic turn at 1:30 in. Muse have announced that their new album is entitled The 2nd Law , and it will be released on the 16th of September, 2012. They've also posted up a trailer which features music from a track called "Entropy". The track is not what I expected and could be called dubstep after a big string arrangement. It sounds like Matt messing around with his Zvex Fuzz Factory and Kaoss Pad to an extreme which he often does in a life setting. The soundtrack listing for New Moon , the latest installment in the fangirl-insanity-inducing Twilight series, has been released, and as previously insinuated, it is pretty indie-tastic, with the likes of Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, Swedish enigma Lykke Li, the Jay-Z-beloved Grizzly Bear, and the one-two punch of Bon Iver and St. Vincent backing up Death Cab For Cutie's lead single "Meet Me On The Equinox."
