Time is slipping away. Shed Your Love - The Helio Sequence Keep Your Eyes Ahead 2008 ( Sub Pop ) Drank the dark wine of the New York night My shattered mind across the borderline Spent the night in someone else's arms Shed your love, shed your love Shed your love, shed your love On a subway train before the dawn The ride was short but my thoughts were [...]

That's The Spirit is a band from Ottawa, CA and they create real, honest folk that is absolutely fantastic. They are self-released and wonderful. That's The Spirit is the perfect band name, right on for the type of music they create. Their music gives off a really great folk vibe. My only request is that they continue to make music because they are oh so good at it. So please help support this unsigned band and buy their album. xx Every City - That's The Spirit [...]

I recently came across the music of Lia Ices and fell head over heels in love with her sultry, passionate melodies. The debut album Necima was released in 2008 and it is stunning. Her new album Grown Unknown is set to be released in January and I can hardly wait. Few words tonight... I think it is best to let the music speak for itself. xX mp3: Many Moons Necima 2008 ( [...]

I am sick again... I might just cry about it. I am coughing with a tickle in my chest and a sore throat. How is this possible? I am drinking a lot of hot tea and soup... Hopefully this will just be a cold and nothing too long and drawn out. Faded Paper Figures can cheer me up though with their delightful and charming indie pop. This album was released back in 2008 and if you like The Postal Service I have a good feeling you will enjoy this threesome. I [...]

I was watching SYTYCD tonight and Lykke Li came on and I was reminded of how much I liked a few of the songs off her 2008 album, although the album as a whole didn't speak to me she still is unique and awesome. Tired... Bed... Enjoy. mp3: Time Flies Youth Novels 2008 ( Atlantic Records )

Not very talkative this evening. Playing something a lot more mainstream (and yes Warner Bros. is freaking mainstream to me, I know, I am a snob), Rachael Yamagata seems just right... She takes us to a darker place on this follow up album and I like it. My grandmother has sold her condo in Florida and is moving here in the next 2 months. She is scared and angry... This breaks my heart because I wish there was some way to ease into this, but it is all happening so fast and she feels herself losing [...]
I fell in love with this song last night when I heard it on SYTYCD. It is so very beautiful... Perfect. The whole routine along with this song brought chills. Ahn Trio are sisters who were trained classically in violin, piano and cello. They blend their classical background with jazz, pop, hip-hop and folk elements to create something new and refreshing. Their music is intriguing and there is certain gentle darkness about it that I can not resist. There is not a song on their 2008 album, Lullaby For My Insomniac, that isn't [...]
Hello world! Something romantic and beautiful this Friday morning to take you into the weekend. Matthew Mayfield is a singer songwriter from Birmingham, AL and he creates delightfully sweet acoustic guitar driven songs. This song comes from his 2008 EP, The Fire . His new album comes out next week, Five Chances Remain Hers . Sorry for the ever so quick post but I am off to get ready for work now, enjoy! mp3: By Your Side [...]
Random I know... But I was watching SYTYCD a couple of weeks back and a couple did a dance to Koop featuring Ane Brun off the 2007 Koop Island album. I hadn't really listened to her since I checked out her album A Temporary Drive in 2006... Needless to say I wasn't entirely won over so I passed by her 2008 album Changing of the Seasons . Note to self: Her first album Spending Time with Morgan [...]
Lets just jump right in shall we? I will be the first to admit I am high strung to say the least, it is just my nature, my mothers side obviously. I have limited patience. The only problem with this is that I can't fake it. Damn it to hell. Sometimes I wish I could so badly! I wear my emotions on my sleeve, wait scratch that I spell it out in big bright red letters. So if you rub me the wrong way, it takes all the strength within me to hide it. I also know I have a [...]

My mom is having surgery tomorrow (well for most of you reading this it will be today, Wednesday) on her shoulder, pretty routine especially for her since she has the muscle tissue of Gumby. Always the mom though, "Don't worry, I'll be fine" she says. She is crazy but I love her so. Think happy, wonderful thoughts tomorrow please! Greg Laswell soothes my soul tonight... He puts all anxiety at ease with his haunting vocals and delicious melodies. The first pick is short but ever so sweet and the second is [...]

I just love this song... It brings a big smile to my face and makes me so very happy. This entire 2008 album was just lovely. Broderick's music is gentle and comforting, perfect for a sleepy Wednesday night. Peter Broderick is currently on tour in Europe and has a new tour EP, Falling From Trees, which is available for purchase if you attend one of his shows of course. mp3: With The Notes In My Ears [...]

Nothing new has really been tickling my fancy or if it did tickle I am still laughing and enjoying it to post it just yet. So tonight we will rewind to 2008 as I share some music that I had missed... I have to go into court tomorrow to take care of a speeding ticket I got on Valentines Day. This state is so f'd that I tried to request an extension via the internet and phone but they are so backed up that my paper work has yet to be processed. Doesn't mean I am not responsible [...]

I can sum up today's day with one word, lame. Work, OBGYN appointment and traffic, no thank you. Tonight I just want to sit back, press play and turn the volume up... mp3: Birds Emilíana Torrini on myspace Me And Armini 2008 ( Rough Trade ) Music always brings a smile to my face. :-) Also available on eMusic

Quick post tonight but none the less important by any means. I took off early from work last night headed north to the El Rey theater in LA to see Alexi Murdoch ... I had previously seen dearest Alexi at the Hotel Cafe , which was a solo acoustic performance and far more intimate. Last night he performed with a full band and it was quite interesting to experience both. However, I have tried for the last 24 hours to decide which I might prefer and I could not bring myself to make such a decision... [...]

I just simply feel beat down and defeated this evening... Work has been tough lately, I come home angry and annoyed at the world. Maybe I need a vacation... Maybe it is time to move on. I just feel so stuck with the economy the way it is. *sigh* I also kind of feel like my freedom was taken away from me at work, Facebook and Pandora have been blocked... That kind of bothers me... I am a really hard worker but if you don't give me the freedom to enjoy surfing the net on my lunch hour [...]

The Oscars are this evening... I love going to see a movie... It is one of my favorite things to do aside from going to see a favorite band play live. There is something so amazing to me about making a great film, it is inspiring to know all of these people came together to create and infuse their own artistic talents into this one vision... To see it all come together up there on the big screen is really quite enjoyable. However, that being said I am not a die hard Oscar follower, but I [...]

This is really how beaitiful it is outside right now... It has been a glorious weekend... I did nothing and it rained off and on... Beautiful white fluffy clouds graced us in the afternoons, rainbows, rain and even waterspouts just South in Huntington Beach, which is kind of scary, but hey my philosophy is that any weather in Southern California is good weather. Anything different than sunny and 75 degrees is just fine with me... I suppose some would probably ask what I am doing in sunny California then and I ask myself [...]

I got pulled over yesterday with my mom in the car... Yes, that is right, oh dear. My mom is a funny lady, but good god she is nuts! I knew he was going to pull me over as soon as I saw him behind me because my registration tags are expired. Fucking registration... It is going to be the death of me... Every year? Really? You would think my registration would be cheap by this point however, I think I am a parking ticket magnet. Actually, it is not really that bad but I had a short stint at [...]

Along with my concern with my use of ellipses. This is an ellipsis (...) and I think I am addicted to using them. Just look at this page, I use them all the time! This is not a good thing. I need ellipsis rehab I think. Benoît Pioulard released another album in 2008 entitled Temper , it contains another one of my favorite songs of 2008 that I have not yet shared here on Untitled Records . Enjoy! mp3: Hesperus [...]
