Check it: Everyone knows Orlando is a Moombah hotbed. The city's got talent coming out its ears in that department, and people like Bigmakk are the reasons why. Bigmakk's first Beatport release, Mad Cow (on Rot10 Musik ), hit two days ago. Every time I hear it, I can't help but smile. I love tunes like these. The cow sample is novel and makes the track stand out, but the coolness of the rest of the tune ensures that it's anything but a novelty. Play [...]

What's up party people. I don't know about you but I've been busy as shit since the last post. I've been preparing to launch my new label, finishing music and getting all of the not so fun stuff out of the way. I don't want to talk about it until it's 100% ready for launch but you should expect to be able to purchase music from me staring early March from all of the major outlets. Forget about the future for now - let's focus on what I have in store for you within this 10th edition of Moombahwhat?!. [...]

Lazy Rich comes to Takeovr tonight! The UK-born Canadian resident and owner of Big Fish Recordings is on tour this month and next, hitting up San Fransisco, Denver, and even Seoul, Korea, and his Orlando stop promises to be dope. Lazy Rich already has a sort of intimate connection to Orlando, in that local bass champ Killagraham had his More Than Anything and Silence (with Henry Fong ) EPs released on Rich's Big Fish label recently ( Beatport it up HERE !). Rich's [...]

" - ♥ Blood Eagle Also, be on the look out for exclusive original tracks/remixes coming out in the near future on the Smile for Camera label. Check out our soundcloud page and stay tuned! [...]
![News & Music! Lazerdisk Party Sex at [fuk'd]!](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3999813_lg.jpg)
Let's get one thing clear: Lazerdisk Party Sex brings the heat. Their name's a little awkward, and the whole masked-DJ thing might throw you off a little, but their music is undeniably potent. Originally from Vermont, these two current Miami residents have been cranking out high-quality moombahton and electro since they first joined forces back in Spring '10. Championed by the likes of Diplo and J-Trick, the two are currently working on their debut album and touring the US for gigs. Their stop at Vain for [fuk'd] tomorrow night (FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE BELOW) signifies [...]

While his tracks and name aren't on a Swedish House Mafia-level of notoriety or anything, John Dahlback 's music is consistently awesome and easily remembered. Stuff like Violins of Donau and One Last Ride stick with you. His newest offering, on Spinnin' Records , is Soldier . It's more of a straight stomper and I've been playing it a lot in the middle of my sets. A gangster vocal and some good piercing lead synths light up the dancefloors quite [...]

It's not often you get to speak with someone who basically invented an entire musical sub-genre. When speaking today with DJ Icey, this is exactly what I got to do. Icey is, of course, one of the original forces behind the Breakbeat sound (and more specifically a pioneer of "Florida Breaks" and the Florida scene in general), and has DJ'ed at some of the world's largest venues and festivals alongside the biggest of A-list DJs. Words can't even begin to cover the Icey's influence on music in the Sunshine State and the US. One tiny example: [...]

It's been a month since I've last written this Moombahwhat column and it's safe to say a lot has gone down in the Moombahverse. As the sound has become a global phenomenon, making it's way from small clubs in Washington, DC to the main stages at music festivals outside of the United States, it's evolved into something that people to either love or hate, seemingly without much middle ground. Locally, here in Miami, we've certainly seen a rise in interest in our beloved genre. On Thursday, July 29th at the Vagabond, you friends at (((SHAKE))) will [...]

Here at SFC we get the entire "party your face off thing" - it's what we do. However, let us not forget others who are less fortunate and need help this time of year (and EVERY time of the year). In that vein, check out Beatport today! ( www.beatport.com ) For those that don't know, Beatport is one of the main sites where pro DJs obtain and distribute their music. Those great folks will donate 100% of their net proceeds to Keep A Child Alive - a non-profit organization dedicated to providing life-saving treatment, orphan care, nutrition, and [...]

Bart B More has always been one of our favorites at Smile For Camera. So has Tommie Sunshine . Luckily for us, they've been bumpin' out tracks together lately (along with RipTide ) under the moniker Horsepower. Familiarize yourself with that name, you should be hearing quite a bit of it in 2012. As a sort of precursor/X-mas present, Horsepower has a holiday tune for us with vocals by none other than Teki Latex . In the spirit of the holiday, this track is a gift. The Horsepower crew asks [...]

It's December in Florida and of course it's hot. We wanted to make sure everyone in the EDM scene was getting ready for the holidays with the right type of holiday music. Instead of having to get into the spirit by listening the same Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson and boy band Christmas cover songs, why not download and listen to something more your style? Fool's Gold posted a quick EP by Telephoned, who were able to cover 3 of my favorite Christmas songs and lucky for everyone they're free for download! "We love [...]

Uh-oh, looks like a feud's a-brewin' between Dim Mak 's Mustard Pimp and Fool's Gold 's Duck Sauce ! Some consider it the first (and hopefully last) East Coast/West Coast dance music record label "beef", a la 902s Hip-Hop. Mustard Pimp said on their Facebook page in late October: "It's us or that latest Duck Sauce video makes us think of our "ZHM" vid released 3 months ago?" Both videos are absolutely hysterical/borderline disturbing, and are definitely some of the more creative EDM videos to come out lately, but [...]

Tomorrow night, its time to Check Yo Ponytail. The banging LA party was squashed for a little while, but returned earlier this year, making waves nationwide with stories of crazy debauchery. On Saturday at Grand Central, Iheartcomix and Media Contender invite you to take part of the fun when the Check yo Ponytail Tour makes its final stop in lovely Miami. The line up includes some of the best names in the game, you may wanna get your tickets while you still can. Spank Rock [...]

Hello party people, I hope you're all doing well. The seasons have started changing here in Miami, which really means it's not hot as fuck all the time any more. With the changing of the weather also comes my changing of age; this week I celebrate my birthday and my friends at The Vagabond / (((SHAKE))) were awesome enough to let me throw a shindig in their back patio area! Sharing the line up with me are my drum and bass family Methodus , AlphaXero , Sopheye and Disidente [...]

For Miami based DJ/producer, Ryan Daniel, aka Bats , music isn't just a game, or a thing to do to pass the time. Its not a ploy to make a lot of money, its a language that speaks to him on a level unlike any other. Music makes sense when all other things don't. Much like the masked crusader credited with his name-sake, Bats seeks to find redemption through his work. His signature brand of dark, throbbing bass is as well thought out and intelligent in its approach as Mr. Bruce Wayne's is when he dons the bat suit. [...]

In April of 2011, we asked our readers "Have you listened to Mord lately?" and only 6 months later he's booked in Orlando during one of the busiest months this scene has seen this year. First Joy Orbison , then Com Truise ; now <a href=" Mord Fustang is the latest linguistic trickster to come along with a too-clever-for-its-own-good, meta-po-mo, celebrity- or brand-riffing alias. When we first posted about him, Smile was willing to put a little money down that he was going to be climbing chart after chart. We actually should have because after [...]

On Thursday, September 29th, Canadian duo Zed's Dead , alongside Quantum Theory and Takeovr residents Winston Wolfe and Joey Paranoia , are going to be burning Firestone Live completely to the ground. I may or may not mean this literally considering this awesomely long month, summer, and year we have had here in Orlando. I am sure though, that this is the first time two Pulp Fiction -related DJ's have played together under the same roof. Let's hope Miramax and Quentin Tarantino don't sue. ( Zed's Dead clip , [...]

Dance music LPs have been cranking out faster than Charlie Sheen's target heartrate lately. First, we Had Nero's Welcome Reality . Then came Porter Robinson's Spitfire (yeah, I know it's listed as an EP, but I'm calling bullshit on that one). Not to be left out of the mega-producer album release club, Wolfgang Gartner drops his Weekend In America today. The "Bonus Track" version is available on iTunes as we speak, and the "Deluxe Extended" version will be [...]

If you haven't heard of moombahton yet, you must have been living under a rock for the past year and haven't been reading our previous "moombahwat" articles! This magical 108bpm genre has been blowing up all over the world and gaining exposure very rapidly due to the whole DIY punk rock mindset that the major moombahtonistas of this genre are representing. Moombahton has already created various sub genres such as moombahcore, moombahjazz and moombahsoul, the sexiest one of them all, Moombahsoul. It is straight up baby making music.; the kind of music you play when you're about to lay some [...]

I don't know what it is about Jay-Z material that gets constant remix and mashup attention. We've had Collision Course (his official six-tracker with Linkin Park), The Grey Album (a mashup LP crafted from the Beatles White Album and Jay-Z's Black Album, by DJ Danger Mouse) and Jaydiohead (a Jay-Z/Radiohead carwreck produced by New York producer Max Tannone). Whatever the reason, we've got another one. This time, it's an L.A. electro-dub-moombahton treatment from Market Price . Definitely hands-up rave material, they take Watch The Throne , [...]
