Each Grammys weekend, the music world comes together to celebrate the MusiCares Person Of The Year with a dinner, auction and tribute concert. This year, MusiCares, which is the health and human services organization affiliated with The Recording Academy, honored New Jersey native Bruce Springsteen at the L.A. Convention Center. Not only did the likes of Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Sting, the Alabama Shakes, Jim James and Tom Morello and Mumford & Sons pay their respects to The Boss by covering one of his songs, but Springsteen himself closed out the evening with a five-song set. In town last week for the Grammy MusiCares tribute concert for Neil Young (but not the Grammy Awards show ), Wilco stopped by Craig Ferguson's Los Angeles studio to tape a performance of "One Wing" for the Late Late Show .  The song appears on Wilco (the Album) which was nominated for the Best Americana Album award that Levon Helm won for Electric Dirt.

Many Chicago based artists were nominated for Grammys at the 52nd Annual Awards show held last night. But only two, hip-hop diva Kanye West and jazz singer Kurt Elling , managed to walk away winners. West won twice, both for his collaboration on the Jay-Z hit “Run This Town” also featuring Rihanna from The Blueprint III which West also produced.  The song won in the Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration categories. Okay, let’s pull a few notable news bits from the queue… Neil Young was named the MusiCares Person of the Year last night at a Recording Academy charity event in LA, which included tribute performances by Red Hot Chili Peppers (with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer), Dave Matthews, Neko Case, Elvis Costello, James Taylor, Elton John, and many other artists.
