Yet another update which should end all of the speculation on what exactly is going on over at one of our favorite local venues, The Music Box. First we reported that the live music venue would be closed temporarily due to some changes in management and even Goldenvoice who handles the majority of their booking issued a statement that read: "At this time, it is our understanding that the closing of The Music Box is a short term closure, please be patient with us as we work out the details as they pertain to our previously scheduled [...]
Two great bands will be coming to Los Angeles in March for one great co-headlining show. The Joy Formidable and A Place To Bury Strangers will both be performing at The Music Box in Hollywood on Wednesday, March 14th. Yet another show added to The Music Box schedule, things are looking up for the venues future. Tickets to see both bands perform together are set to go on sale starting on thursday, January 12th at 10am through Ticketmaster for $22.50 plus any additional service fees. Seeing both bands separately [...]
So this is two stories in one, Delta Spirit have announced that they will be making their way back to Los Angeles for another show. Where will they be playing? The Music Box . That's right, the Hollywood venue that has so many rumors flying around right now about it's current operating status will house the show which is set to take place on Friday May 11th. Opening for them will be Waters. Does this mean that any "troubles" that were taking place behind the scenes are [...]
So there is a lot of talk going on right now about the status of one of Los Angeles' greatest live music venues, The Music Box . It was shocking to hear that there was any type of possibility of this theatre closing, but if you were to pass by right now you will see that the marquee currently reads "Out of Order", and we hear that there is a lot of shuffling going on with the new management. The only official statement that has been released comes from Goldenvoice who does about 90% of their show [...]
We previously mentioned that Cults will be coming back for a local show at The Glass House on Friday, March 23rd. But if for some reason that date or location doesn't work for you, the band have decided to add another local date, and this time it will be closer to Los Angeles. You can now see Cults when they play at The Music Box in Hollywood a day earlier on Thursday, March 22nd. Tickets to see Cults at The Glass [...]
The last time I caught Dinosaur Jr. performing was at their main stomping grounds, The Troubadour. Hardcore fan, musician, writer, actor, spoken word artist, and KCRW DJ Henry Rollins was up against the wall rocking out. That's when I decided I better start carrying around earplugs. This time, at The Music Box, Rollins did a brief interview with the guys before they played their 1988 album, Bug, in its entirety. Rollins was, of course, the perfect candidate to talk with the band, but the audience started getting antsy (they must [...]
Ep.509 - The Kooks @ The Music Box - Hollywood, CA - 12/08/11 This show was one of those shows that I went to on chance. I didn't have the slightest clue who The Kooks were before this show, or so I thought. I had noticed that The Kooks sold-out two nights at The Music Box. I figured they had to be pretty good, but honestly put no thought into actually going. A good friend of mine (Lisa) had an extra ticket and was looking for company so I said to myself, [...]
The last time The Kooks came to town, back in June, the band filled the Troubadour with girls screaming over Luke Pritchard. This time around, the boys played two sold out nights at The Music Box to the same screaming girls, but with some added guys in the mix. A riser was added to the front of the stage for Pritchard to run across. This was a smart move as people in the back could actually see the action. The English indie pop group was tight while Pritchard worked the crowd and constantly moved about. [...]
After a tease at FYF, Girls returned to L.A.'s Music Box with its critically acclaimed baby Father, Son, Holy Ghost . With his blonde messy locks falling over the side of his face and quiet demeanor, Christopher Owens had the room at full attention the entire night. Owens' passion in his songwriting comes through clearly live. The songs are nostalgic yet, at the same time, like nothing like you've heard before. The transitions are so smooth as each band member contributes to weaving every moment seamlessly. The other official half of Girls [...]
If you were on the mailing list of the Pixies, you were kindly rewarded with a link to buy tickets (sans service charge) of an intimate "La La Love You" to be held at The Music Box. Of course, it sold out in minutes. The day of the gig, the band asked for requests via Twitter. What would they play? Showtime came and diehard fans, comedians and fellow musicians packed the house. The quartet with that special chemistry—Black Francis, Kim Deal, Joey Santiago and Dave Lovering came to the stage and opened with "Bone Machine." But as soon [...]

Video Premiere: "Giving You The Benefit" by Pebbles
The first batch of CD's we ever bought consisted of Janet Jackson's janet. , Mariah Carey's Music Box and Michael Jackson's Dangerous from a store in Salmiya. The seller had a bunch of extra CD's that weren't selling and if you purchased two albums, you are allowed to grab one for free. So, naturally, we grabbed the one with the cover art that looked most diva-tastic from the bunch . Anyway, it turns out to be Pebbles before she went all crazy churchy on us. A good slice of 80-tinged pop! Filed under: [...]

Album Review: The Kooks "Junk of the Heart"
After almost four years, the British indie-rock band, The Kooks, came out with their third album this past September. "Junk of the Heart" has topped at number 10 on the UK Albums Chart, while their original debut album hit Number 2 back in 2006. The opening song for which the album gets its name, Junk of [...]

PICTURE THIS: The Kooks @ The Music Box, LA 12/8/2011
The Kooks played in LA and we were there with camera in hand. Swoon girls, swoon.
Show Review: Girls at the Music Box
I might have been insane to go to a show the day before a final, but honestly, I don't regret it one bit. Girls played an incredible show at the Music Box this past Tuesday, December 6th and I left the show happier than I was this entire finals week. We had a bit of trouble [...]
