Electroacoustic übersite Fluid Radio has added a user forum to its webzine/record label/radio station/online retailer/photography/iPhone app format. Seriously, for the website you thought already had everything... In our first of two novelty sites, The Best Band Ever promises to take user-generated band rosters and create a mock band biography. It's fun, but it's powered externally, so it's a bit choppy. For example, try typing in Jeff Buckley, Niel Peart, David Crosby, Tori Amos, and Justin Bieber, which results in The Peart Justin of Buckley , a "5-piece band [...]

MUSIC NEWS - For almost 12 years, LiveDaily has keep the music world up to date on artist and touring news. But, as of May 21, 2010, Ticketmaster owned for the last three years, the music site LiveDaily has ceased publication. MNN has enjoyed reading them over the years, but did notice a decline in coverage and a change in it's focus and the Ticketmaster leanings too awkward. We wish the staff many new successes. Find the editors/writers on Twitter: General manager: Richard Tafoya @richardtafoya [...]

There will be platforms for environmental [...]

Over the past week I've come across three music industry pundits discussing the importance - or lack there of - of the album in today's wide open arena of music marketing. I thought I would share them with you below and then offer up a few of the reasons why, as an aspiring artist, an album isn't in my immediate plans. So, if you are an artist these are great reads. They will give you some perspective into how you might want to formulate your marketing strategy from this point forward. And, if you are a fan [...]

Ever thought about hiring an artist or a band to come and play right in your living room? If so, today is your lucky day. Over the last few days, I have stumbled upon three websites that are making it their mission to hook up artists with people like you that willing to try something different for your next party or social gathering. Those three sites are; PrivateConcerts.com , ConcertsInYourHome.com and MPTrax.com . Now I didn't see John Mayer, Springsteen or Metallica looking for work on any of the sites - not that most [...]
