Mux Mool - Raw Gore Mux Mool - Cash For Gold If you've gotten yourself into the habit of sippin' on half price martinis up at The Bricks on Thursday evenings then you'll probably recognize at least a few bits 'n' pieces from beat-artist Mux Mool's quirky/catchy (and Liquid Jesus mainstay fave) Skulltaste full length. If not, then you probably haven't been paying close enough attention. Perhaps another round of eclectic, weirdo instrumental [...]

Underground electronica act Mux Mool released his second proper LP Planet High School today on Ghostly International. You may know him from his classic 2008 single "Death 90003 or from his killer remix of "Windstorm" by label-mates School of Seven Bells. But for the last year and a half or so, Mux Mool has been doing what underground electronic artists do best: release a string of EPs and singles and keep honing your sound in to perfection. Mux Mool is at a different place on Planet High School that he was on [...]
Established in 2004, Moodgadget Records has been nurturing the electronic music making process for artists such as Mux Mool, SHIGETO, TEEEL, and André Obin to name a few, but that's just beginning of the list. Jakub Alexander and Adam Hunt built this label from the ground up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, eventually making their way to Brooklyn, New York. Now based in both Brooklyn and Los Angeles, Moodgadget has continued to break down the walls, foraging a new path for electronic music. Although this introduction is long overdue, some artists working with them have recently put out new releases. One being Mux [...]
Filed under: Exclusive , RPM , New Music , Q + A Tim Saccent As genre-defying Minnesota-born, Brooklyn-based visual artist/producer Mux Mool prepares to release his sophomore LP, 'Planet High School,' he sat down with Spinner/RPM to discuss his beautiful, frenetic collection of melancholic synth-funk instrumentals, the fate of America's youth, his pursuit of happiness and why he'd rather remix Smokey Robinson than Lil Wayne or Drake . Just yesterday, Brian Lindgren, better known by his stage name Mux Mool , released his highly anticipate sophomore album Planet High School , a ten-song album that employs the artist's hip hop instrumentation to the highest degree. The album sees Mux Mool deploying hip hop drum beats with overtones of excellent looping, synthesized goodness, and chopped up and disparate vocals. Courtesy of The Fader , the entire album is available to stream in its entirety below. Planet High School is available now digitally, with a physical release date set for March 6th.

Mux Mool's new album Planet High School drops today on Ghostly International. In a word, dope. Here are two of my favorite tracks from it. The heavy hitting instrumental hip-hop track "Palace Chalice" and the uber-epic "Baba". I seriously can't stop listening to "Baba", it's like electronic Explosions in the Sky. With Planet High School [...]

Mark Lanegan's Blues Funeral comes out today, and if you couldn't tell how excited we were to feature an exclusive album preview this past week and you somehow thrilled we were to host the Mark Lanegan Band live this morning from the Cutting Room Studios in NYC, go back and listen to the performance again later today on our Live Performances Archive and you can practically hear John Richards' head explode when Mark calls him "bro." Awesome. Though Mark Lanegan lives in sunnier southern climes now, he's definitely a legend of Northwest [...]
Mux Mool is a versatile producer, almost too versatile for his own good. While he has a ton of fabulous remixes to his name, as well as some stunning solo and collaborative work in the bag, I feel like he has fallen short when it comes to putting together cohesive projects. Skulltaste , his full-length debut, was solid, but it didn't really hit me the same way some of his prior work did. With that being said, Mux Mool is ready to launch his latest album, Planet High School , which is by far a more refined final [...]

★★★★☆ Whereas the arcade boom-bapper Skulltaste was all about the calculated seek and destroy within computerized Minnesotan mazes, Planet High School (sadly not an adaptation of cult cartoon Galaxy High or anything to do with The Jetsons ) is like Mux Mool has finished off the last end-of-level boss and can finally look around at his leisure and enjoy the scenery. Therefore the sophomore is both one to keep separate and with skewed logic, a natural follow-up. Though just as quickfire as his debut, and with the [...]

We've been fans of Mux Mool for a long time. He's at times equal parts, Dilla, Exile and some other shit. His latest effort, Planet High School is out digitally on February 7th and physically on March 6th via Ghostly and it's sounding right on time. Stream now via FADER premiere previously: Ray Wright - The Rise In Falling (prod. Mux Mool)
US producer Mux Mool's album "Skulltaste" was one of our favourite albums of 2010 and the arrival of new album "Planet High School" was greeted with suitable excitement here at the Labs. It doesn't disappoint and once again shows off the producers skills for adding various genres and tempos to his palette while continuing to wrap them up in his unique packaging of groove filled earworm hooks and catchy melodies that sound instantly recognisable and forever memorable. You can grab the album from February 7th but grab a couple of freebies [...]

Twenty-twelve is already off to a strong start in terms of good music. Although there haven't been a lot of great albums yet (after all we are only a few weeks in), there have been a host of intriguing singles popping up left and right. If these singles are a sign of what's to come this year, then my prediction is that 2012 is going to be a great year for music. Not everything here was released in 2012 - some of these tracks have been floating around for months even - but now just felt like a good time [...]
