Well, I thought I'd look and see if I could find some new M. Ward songs to show you all from his stop last week at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. But, I found something way better. Turns out Mr. Ward got a visit from Norah Jones and Bright Eyes' Nate Walcott for a pretty amazing duet of "Lullaby + Exile." Check out the video below and look for songs from M. Ward's upcoming A Wasteland Companion to emerge eventually.
Tweet vaso link M. Ward isn't seen much these days without the She to his Him, Zooey Deschanel. But he's apparently carved out some time to record a new album, entitled A Wasteland Compilation , which is due out on April 10. This is the second animated video we've had on the blog today, and it's for the first single from that release, entitled "The First Time I Ran Away." It goes the literal route, and I'm totally OK with that. Connect with [...]
Four years may seem like a lot of time between records, but since the release of Hold Time in 2009, M. Ward hasn't been a stranger to the recording studio choosing to spend his time on collaborative projects both with the Monsters Of Folk and She & Him. On April 10 the singer-songwriter will return to being a solo act, as he will release his latest studio album, A Wasteland Companion , via his longtime label Merge Records. Last week Matt released the animated music video for the record's first single [...]

The line-up for this years Sasquatch Festival came out on Thursday night and it is a pretty decent looking list. Even though there is roughly a -12% chance that I will be able to attend this year, I thought it would be kind to preview some songs from artists that I would be excited to go see. This is just a small sampling so head over to The Official Site for more info about bands playing and how to get tickets. Enjoy! Free mp3: Active Child - Hanging [...]

It's been almost three years since M.Ward released his latest solo album, Hold Time . In the time that has elapsed, Ward has kept himself busy with other projects, including She & Him and Monsters of Folk , both of which have been featured on TBT over the past year. On April 10th of this year, myself along with many [...]

TGIF, indeed. - Möhammad Choudhery Staff Writer Beach Fossils - "Shallow" At the beginning of February, it seems strange to embrace the warm, sunny sounds of Beach Fossils, but that's why it's great! There's a major shortage during this [...]
Taking in a show at the Masonic Lodge located within the famed Hollywood Forever Cemetery is always a treat. It's a small room seating roughly 200, with tall ceilings, two hanging chandeliers and seated cushioned benches to the side. To keep it a little more hip, the walls feature film posters like A Clockwork Orange, [...]

Ruth Swanson Seeing San Francisco's Ty Segall at Halifax Pop Explosion 2010 was one of the most unexpectedly rowdy/violent shows I've ever been in the middle of, which was a bit surprising considering that as rough and garage-y as his stuff is, it's not all that heavy. Certainly not the obvious soundtrack for the bedlam that ensued that evening. Maybe it was just Halifax. Anyways, despite enjoying his music well enough, I've made a point of avoiding his shows as the odds of me getting kicked in the head seem to [...]

Probably better known as the "Him" half, in ZoZo 's musical side-project, She & Him , (and as a member of Monsters of Folk ), M. Ward makes a welcome return to the familiar fields of his more soothing self. Have a listen below to the acoustic calypso vibes of 'The First Time I Ran Away', the opening taste of his seventh solo album, A Wasteland Companion , set to drop April 10th via Bella Union , his first for the label. Monster Folk-er as well as the Him of She and Him, M. Ward gets positively cuddly on this Nick Drake-ian song set to a One Eskimo-styled animated charm. For some reason we keep thinking of imbibing some hot chocolate on a cold day (with extra marshmallows) or that episode of Seinfeld when George explores his fantasy of wrapping himself in nothing but velvet. From his forthcoming album A Wasteland Companion , due April 10. More DC here .
