No, not me. I wish, but I'm talking about the excellent San Francisco video site Yours Truly. They've had some awesome acts walk through their doors from Local Natives to Delorean, Toro Y Moi to Burn Ruffians, and this time it was the turn of Camera Obscura. Even though they didn't quite walk through any doors on video, I'm sure they had to walk through a couple of them just get to San Fran's own Camera Obscura where this was filmed. "Forests & Sands" can be found on their excellent 2009 album "My Maudlin Career" which you [...]

Oh the joy (and complexity) of love! Camera Obscura pins the feeling down in this song off their top-notch album My Maudlin Career : Camera Obscura - "French Navy" — Basil

From the band play their, "French Navy" along the tracks of the rail in Austria. Also a sweet rendition of "Other Towns, Other Cities" from Pitchfork's 'Cemetery Gates' series shot recently. Camera Obscura - The Blizzard Camera Obscura - Other Towns And Cities [...]
Check out the music video for the second track from Scottish indie pop act Camera Obscura's fantastic fourth album, My Maudlin Career. Not to be confused with the U2 song by the same name, here's The Sweetest Thing... Camera Obscura - The Sweetest Thing
Last week we posted a video of Annie Clark (St. Vincent) performing acoustically at this very same venue. Today we bring you Camera Obscura , in all their glory. My Maudlin Caree r, the newest effort from these Brits, finds a darker tone than previous efforts before as the title would suggest; there is heartbreak at work here -- in the raw. Yet, the album is not with out some fantastic pop gems such as "French Navy," "The Sweetest Thing," and "Honey in the Sun." In this acoustic video, we have two out of the three of the [...]
MUSIC NEWS - Camera Obscura recently sat down on a wonderful sunny day for GrandCrew at Route du Rock 2009 for this acoustic set featuring tunes from the Scotish band's Spring 2009 release, My Maudlin Career . A great summer moment, enjoy - More on the band @ - their MySpace page .

Usually a show we're interested in attending rarely goes the route of Antones , but a venue known for its pristine seemed like the exact place one would want to witness the soaring sounds of Camera Obscura . We set out with open minds, looking forward to hearing some of our favorite tracks of the year live. Follow the jump to read more and see some fancy pics. Anni Rossi opened the evening accompanied by nothing else [...]
Listen to them perform their new single.
Have I mentioned how good this album is??

Today's post comes to us from Glasgow, Scotland, where the band Camera Obscura originated in 1996. If Looks Could Kill is off the band's third album Let's Get Out of This Country , released in June of 2006. On an interesting side-note to the album, the first song ( Lloyd, I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken ) is actually a response to the Lloyd Cole and the Commotions ' song Are You Ready to Be Heartbroken? . If this post has whet your appetite for Camera Obscura, the band released their fourth LP, My [...]
New Camera Obscura video in the style of a travelogue
As we see it, we're about midway through the year as far as record releases go, seeing as how no one really puts albums out in December for fear of being left off year-end lists. Since we've hit the half-way mark, we thought we would throw out a list of our Top 5 Records so far this year. Keep in mind, this list is subject to change, should something mind altering come our way, or should we just get bored with one of the following records. [...]
in my opinion, camera obscura has always been a quietly confident band. on their newly released my maudlin career , however, that confidence has grown to assume a bolder and more extroverted character with a sound that's more expansive and a delivery firm and entirely at ease with itself. nothing exemplifies this better than album opener "french navy", a stomper bursting with energy and finesse. last year, the band gave the singaporean audience a glimpse of that as they previewed the song during their gig here, although as i noted before, they did seem rather dwarfed by [...]

Ok so as you guys know I have been a lazy ass and haven't made any posts in April 'cause of final exams, graduation, celebrating, and yada yada yada. I'll be doing super super quick reviews (like seriously under 100 words probsies) on Yeah Yeah Yeah's It's Blitz! , Boy Least Likely To's Law of the Playground , Camera Obscura's My Maudlin Career , and Phoenix's Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix . Short and sweet just 'cause these bands have been blogged about like crazy for the past little while already and I'd rather cover albums that have [...]

Should I be worried that some tortured souls make me happy? It's just a fact that there are some artists out there who have built their career on depressing music yet oftentimes, those very songs for some reason put me in my happy place. The Smiths , for example, are funny to me, but not depressing. The Cure makes me dance. To some people this is just weird. Thankfully, there are other artists that do manage to somber me up, like Ryan Adams for instance. I suppose the fact that I do not derive joy [...]
Buy this album French Navy Download audio file (CO-FrenchNavy.mp3) Away With Murder Download audio file (CO-AwayWithMurder.mp3) Camera Obscura's catalog is a concordance to the thoughts and feelings of that dark, grim-visaged, exquisitely vintage dressed girl sitting demurely in a corner of a dark dive–the femme too pigeonhearted to have anything fatal about her–with nothing but a drink and a dog-eared [...]

While working at "tea shop" [I'm leaving it un-named for various reasons], I often get the chance to plug in my iPod and chill with some tunes to help pass the time. "Tea Shop" was really slow with business today so I put on the new Camera Obscura album that I recently received while I sipped on some Darjeeling. I only heard a little of it earlier today while getting ready to leave the house. The opening track "French Navy" kicks off their latest album damn well with blasting drums and Tracyanne Campbell telling us about her week [...]
