"As the festival season draws to a close, September 28th 2013 will see the first Ringmaster Festival take place on the Whitbourne Estate in Worcestershire for an explosion of music and food meets a vintage circus. This year sees Maximo Park, Mystery Jets, Deaf Havana, Swim Deep, Theme Park, Tall Ships on the line-up, who will be joined by rising stars Chloe Howl, Luke Sital-Singh, Thumpers, and in keeping with the festivals ethos of supporting upcoming talent, Laurel Canyons, Marie Naffah, Lewis Mokler and Tom Jarvis amongst others join the bill. Set in the stunning Hereford & Worcestershire countryside borders, [...]
With the snow in Britain finally cleared off all roads and hopefully not making another appearance during a far to brief summertime, this can only mean one thing: the start of a beautiful British festival season. Whilst there may only be sunshine for a couple of these weekends the main focus is on the music [...] The post Live At Leeds Festival reviewed appeared first on Cougar Microbes .

Back in 2010, Melbourne dance-rockers NORTHEAST PARTY HOUSE were delivering high energy live performances in various warehouses and local venues. It was inevitable that the band would receive as big of a following as it has now. Of course winning Triple J Unearthed in 2010 could have something to do with it, and of course their fantastic performance at the Pyramid Rock Festival the same year. Yep, these guys did a hell of a lot within that year, and guess what, they’ve done even more! NORTHEAST PARTY [...]
Having previously returned home from Leeds Festival with a mild case of trench foot, it was with some apprehension that I returned, armed with two pairs of wellies, a towel and a tent with a fully functioning zip. Fortunately, there was no such problem with the Northern weather and Thursday was a day spent meeting [...]
By Alex Ward July 6, 2012 Welcome to the first day of Lounge on The Farm . A day of both hard rain and amazing sunshine greeted the punters at Merton Farm, just outside Canterbury. At the main stage, You Say They Play winners Big Topp from Portsmouth started things off. They are a band who could be mistaken for Puddle of Mudd playing just like The Specials. Heading across the farm we went down to check out a band I have reported on before, The Vex , who played the [...]
Mystery Jets played a packed Academy of Arts on the Thursday night of this year's Liverpool Sound City. Here are two of the sons they performed: 'Show Me the Light', from 20102s 'Serotonin', and an old favourite, 'Behind the Bunhouse', which they used to close out their set. Enjoy both below. You can read about this performance, along with the others I caught on the first night of the festival, here. Click here to view the embedded video. [...]

Of the nights TGTF was not hosting a stage, Thursday night at Sound City was the most stellar. After the Taiwan reception at the Hilton, I consumed a high calorie pub dinner full of fried food (yes, I was hungry) and getting chatted up by an LFC supporter drinking wine at the bar. (Search me. What is it with Northerners, why am I always chatted up in the North?). A PR friend and I went searching for the Academy of Arts; my goal was to get to the Mystery Jets [...]
Mystery Jets were one of the hottest tickets in town at the Great Escape this year, with the Corn Exchange even shutting me out on the Thursday as they went delegate queue-less. But all is not lost. The band - minus bassist Kai Fish, who has since left the group - performed two songs from their new album 'Radlands', 'Greatest Hits' and 'Hale Bop', for Bands in Transit. Evidently, this was filmed on the Friday as there's a [...]

For some reason, my phone refused to let me subscribe to the Great Escape text service, and without adequate O2 coverage, I hadn't had a chance in hell to load the official festival app. In hindsight, either of these may have informed me that the entire Island Records showcase at the Loft featuring Lower Than Atlantis , King Charles (my main interest in this stage, after Tom's hilarious phone interview with the man ) and Tribes had been cancelled. But as I learned over this weekend, [...]
Camden Crawl has become something of an institution across the water since first appearing in the mid '90s. It prides itself on giving an equal footing to both established and emerging acts and for the first time Camden Crawl is coming to Dublin. The line-up is mightily impressive, continuing it's mantra, it has a nice mix of homegrown and [...]
It’s been quite a year for Mystery Jets . Having moved to Austin to record their fourth studio album last October, they returned to the UK earlier this year with the realisation that bassist Kai Fish had taken more than a step back from the band (he was later to depart). Over the past seven years the Londoners have evolved from being an electro-pop band who charmed us with their multi coloured shirts and eclectic lyrics, before changing course and endearing us with the more refined and stylised Serotonin in 2010. New album [...]

It’s the second day of Bingley Music Live ’11 , the first of two paying days, but at £35 for the Saturday and Sunday, no one’s really complaining. It’s a far cry from neighbouring Leeds Festival as the 15,000 descend back on Myrtle Park, Bingley, readying themselves for a day of sunshine and music. Due to the excess amount of people arriving in the area, trains are pushed to their limit on the arrivals front and as such, my first train of two for the day was delayed and I managed [...]

Each festival is defined by its terroir: the land on which it takes place that gives it its atmosphere and reason for being. Where would Glastonbury be without its mythical rumours of ley lines and King Arthur, for instance? At first glance, the city centre of Sunderland wouldn’t be considered prime real estate by festival goers. But Split Festival have found a very accommodating venue in Ashbrooke Sports Club, a cricket and rugby venue with a proud tradition of sport, and a rather fine clubhouse, which is given over for a [...]
by Paul Brown As someone who considers himself to be a major lover of the North East’s musical happenings, it is quite simply a travesty that I haven’t yet made it to either of the previous installments of Split Festival , so I’m pleased to finally rectify that this year, even if I’m only able to make it to the festival’s first day. Set in the lovely surroundings of Ashbrooke Sports Club in a pretty leafy part of Sunderland, the line-up of the festival is a gratifying blend of local and bigger name talent, and [...]

Last weekend, somebody summed up to me what the Secret Garden Party was: what Glastonbury wishes it was. Secluded, environmental, beautiful, mad and infused with good vibes brought on by some of the best people on Earth. Unlike Glasto, however, SGP actually succeeds in fitting that description - it's a bubble, essentially, cut off from the rest of the world with no reliance on commercialism or advertising, and provides arguably the greatest festival-going experience in the UK, if not the world. Instead of trying to write up a description of the festival itself - which, thanks to the see-it-to-believe-it nature [...]

"Take a pew", joked Sarah Blasko's guitarist as we listened intently in St. Stephen's Church, Shepherds Bush. All Communion and religious jokes aside, Bushstock was Communion Records' inagural festival which saw 30 bands play ac... Read more..

Gerlin loves those alliterations, so here it goes/ my festive facts of 2010! The year has gone by so fast and so many things have happened. I saw some great bands perform, went to a couple of festivals (Dour, Pukkelpop), went on a few trips (Oxford, London, Amsterdam, Tilburg, Lille) and had a lovely time with my amazing friends! The most important thing that happened to me is probably the fact that I've graduated, I've now got a master's degree in Tropical Biomedical Sciences. Not that brilliant though, as it's impossible to find a proper job in that [...]
Yep, another festival break down. This time I'll give you my picks for The Pyramid Rock Festival , which is held down at Phillip Island (VIC) about an hour or so from Melbourne, held from December 30 th - January 1st. I suppose this is your alternative festival for NYE if you're not into Falls or if you've recovered from the Merideth Music Festival . Or you could just come hang out with me, I'm sure I'll be being trashy at some apartment in the city again. Enough [...]
