U.K. pop ensemble Mystery Jets have been a Next Big Thing for about four albums now, their 2006 debut "Making Dens" (released as "Zootime" by Dim Mak in the U.S.) earning a lot of attention, and their ensuing two albums of hooky ditties occasionally exhilarating, consistently witty but mostly merely amiable. For their fourth album "Radlands" (out this month on Rough Trade), they took up residence near Austin, Texas, but only some of the album sounds like it. The Mystery Jets' Radlands, released back in April, was a very pleasing listen. Our very own Catherine Hawkes, when summing it up, pondered that "the recording of Radlands in Texas has injected the band with a heavy influence of Americana to their beloved Anglo-pop sound, and you know what, they pull it of with applaudable ease." 'Greatist Hits', its new single, is, according to Hawkes "an upbeat, nostalgic beauty that delivers a very Beatles-esque sound." And now they've released a video for it. In a fairground. Here is the official video for Mystery Jets newest single 'Greatest Hits', which is taken from their fourth album Radlands . The band are currently on tour with Keane here in North America, and come to Salt Lake City, UT on June 26th at Gallivan Plaza.

Mystery Jets ' new video for 'Greatest Hits' is probably the best song on 'Radlands' after 'Someone Purer', and I hope it's the next single, not because I called it a while ago, but it's a really cheeky song (and cheeky is something Mystery Jets does very well), about a breakup of two music lovers and the subsequent divvying up of their shared record collection. Mystery Jets played a packed Academy of Arts on the Thursday night of this year's Liverpool Sound City. Here are two of the sons they performed: 'Show Me the Light', from 20102s 'Serotonin', and an old favourite, 'Behind the Bunhouse', which they used to close out their set. Enjoy both below. Los comentarios que Mystery Jets ha estado recibiendo por su nuevo material han sido bastante favorables y debo decir, que hasta cierto punto esto me sorprendio en altos niveles ya que no esperaba que "Radlands" fuera a ser tan recibido como lo fue su antecesor. Of the nights TGTF was not hosting a stage, Thursday night at Sound City was the most stellar. After the Taiwan reception at the Hilton, I consumed a high calorie pub dinner full of fried food (yes, I was hungry) and getting chatted up by an LFC supporter drinking wine at the bar. (Search me.
