Après un Narrow Stairs qui avait divisé (mais que j'avais personnellement beaucoup aimé), Death Cab revient avec un Codes And Keys qui semble faire l'unanimité. Véritable enchaînement de tubes, l'album a tourné sur ma platine tout l'été. Tout juste pourrait-on lui reprocher un échec à refaire un I Will Possess Your Heart avec Unobstructed Views et sa trop longue intro (alors que ça marche sur Doors Unlocked And Open ). These remainders from Narrow Stairs find Death Cab live and looser, which works to their advantage. U2 would kill to be able to write a song as broad and open as "A Diamond And A Tether." Man, it's hard to believe that the DCFC record Plans came out a full four years ago in 2005. It was and is still a great record. The 2008 Narrow Stairs is definitely not as good as Plans . It's still good though. There are so many enjoyable tracks on Plans that if you still haven't listened to the whole thing by now, you really should get around to that. Somewhere in the history of my adolescence, I adored this band. I've watched them change and grow from album to album, always finding something to appreciate. There newest album Narrow Stairs saw them branch further than before, but it also didn't seem to fulfill Ben Gibbard's desire for perfect acoustic songs with Death Cab . Washington-based band Death Cab For Cutie represents the 'American Dream' for up-and-coming bands, working their way through the indie circuit to eventually become of major label caliber. The song "Grapevine Fires" (from the album, Narrow Stairs ) was used in a mixtape dedicated to President Obama and the official video is a really dope animated video.
