Nas and Lauryn Hill hit the Congress on Wednesday. The show was high energy, with a packed Congress turned into a large house party early, thanks to a warm up set from DJ Green Lantern. Nas took the stage with a live band and it sounded amazing. Lauryn Hill did her thing as well. We got a lot of pics from the show. Check them out below. All photos by Andrew Zeiter.

Here is an excellent video from Nas and his track, "Cherry Wine", which features the late Amy Winehouse. The song's theme and feel is brought to life in this new visual, which joins the list of many Nas classics. Peep it below.

CommoNasm is the latest mixtape from Miami's TenDJiz, the producer and engineer who is making a name for himself via the release of his Hip Hop meets Soviet Soul mixtapes. TenDJiz has previously created mixtapes based around the works of Q-Tip and De La Soul , both of which were praised widely. Last night he sent over his newest creation, CommoNasm , featuring the works of Common and Nas over instrumentals centered around Soul and Jazz samples from the Soviet Union. This is an on-point pairing for several reasons. First, Common looks up [...]

You almost knew this was going to get the visual treatment. There were many questions about "Daughters" during the release of the audio, now let's see what chatter the video will bring. Nas's LP Life is Good is due July 17th. Is it Nas's summer? Hit the jump for the "Daughters" video directed by Chris Robinson.
Directed by Chris Robinson Nasty Nas drops a compelling P.O.V. visual for the No I.D.-assisted "Daughters" track. The clip tracks the daddy/daughter relationship from her eyes and even has a cameo from Nas' own teenage daughter. The track is scheduled to appear on the rapper's 10th solo album, Life is Good , due out in July.

Fans of Nas have already marked the 17th of July on their calendars. Unless they don't have calendars, in which case the crafty thugs probably went out, grabbed some construction paper and made link chains to countdown the days until the highly-anticipated Life is Good is released. That's right, if you hadn't heard it already, your reading it now: The head professor of complex lyrical flow is back and "Daughters" marks the third nugget of the upcoming album to hit our ears. It chronicles the concerns and pressures of raising daughter in the digital [...]

When some of the most popular music publications on the Internet began posting their picks for the “Best Albums of 2011,” I allowed myself a little “I do my job better than you do” smile. Why? Because publishing a “Best Albums of 2011” list before December 20, the day that Common’s The Dreamer/The Believer drops, is a bit like handing out medals for snowboarding at the Winter X Games before Shaun White takes his runs. Premature is an understatement. Is The Dreamer/The Believer the best album of the entire year? No, I stand by [...]
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Common is far from an up & comer, but I could not disregard the incredible energy off this track. I don't know how I did not see this a little earlier, but this goes hard. I'm a long time fan Common, and this track put a modern twist on the classic Chi-city [...]

NCMF Doc We rolled out an in-studio look last night of the first-cut of one of the full songs from North Coast Fest (encore of one of the headliners) We'll save the dragged out details and tell you flat, it's...
Heading to Editing After an amazing weekend of shooting the first year festival in Union Park, we are ready to head into editing for the Doc project we're curating on the event. We captured the moments both on-stage, behind-the-scenes and...

We at JTTS are still recovering from the shock, thrill, emotion and booze that flowed so thoroughly Tuesday night ( some of us-Faraone-live from Chi-town ). Forget the fact that our new Prez is black, is a Democrat, or that he's the first president who (used to) smoke weed and (still) gets it in on the balling court . The simple fact is that he's not Bush , and because of that, the sun is shining a little brighter every morning now (for the record, that's not a veiled Reagan reference. I was born in '86 [...]
Nas - One Love / Street Dreams/ If I Ruled The World Click to view more videos and photos from Rock The Bells 2008...

As the opening date of the Rock the Bells tour in Chicago gets closer, the anticipation for seeing all of these spectacular artists continues to grow as well. When I found out that the new Nas album was being released the week of Rock the Bells, I was extremely excited. Then as I found out that Mos Def was coming out with a new album and would be performing new material at Rock the Bells, I almost lost my mind. Of course, who could forget the scheduled performances from one of my all time favorites A Tribe Called Quest, as [...]
