Click for Facebook Event SalaciousSound and Wrongbar have developed a pretty good relationship over the last little while. After throwing our 1 Year Anniversary Block Party at the end of last year and launching the new design (thanks for all of the positive feedback!) with Dan Black ; we were more than thrilled when Nav asked us to host their Canadian Music Fest event featuring Classixx . As many of our readers already know, Classixx is one of my favorite artists at the moment. They have been leading a resurgence in disco [...]

This was probably the event of the year for clubrats/partygoers in the GTA. Let me just put that out there. There was something like 20 artists playing in the Guvernment complex Thursday night - I stayed in the Kool Haus so if you're looking to read about Sharam or the Junkies or Deko-Ze ... sorry. Opening the show was Toronto's very own Nasty Nav . He wasn't spectacular but I prefer him over Perry Farrell . Farrell, as I'm sure you all know, is the frontman for Jane's Addiction. As a solo musician, I [...]

Lee Mortimer will be coming across the pond to put on a show at Wrongbar this Friday. The Figet House producer and DJ released a great mix this January through his MySpace. I love the hip hop counting sample that gets looped in early and eventually leads to a powerful breakdown at 6 minutes. Overall this mix is awesome when looking for something with intensity and glitch. With Nasty Nav and Sek One from the awesome curb crawlers blog in tow, this night certainly sounds salacious to me! Check out some tracks and the aformentioned mix, [...]

Tonight @ Wrongbar Fake Blood is going to take the stage, get on the one's and twos, and make our ears bleed. For the 1 year anniversary of this much loved Toronto hot spot, Nasty Nav has brought in the funk and the hype. We all know that any big DJ over the sound system that Nav has spent so much time on, guarantees that bodies will move and shake to the bass. Here is a pretty sweet little ditty by British band Modernaire . It's A remix of MGMT's awesome Birds, Moons and Monsters. Not fast, not electro, but a nice track for a little change of pace in your sets' and lives'. Hope everyone appreciates the track! It's on my elecronic bed time list. Along with the recently mentioned Autoerotique (I love that this name sounds like an adjective for describing the song) remix of Lykke Li , and Nasty Nav's remix of Crystal Castles' Vanished . A couple of less recent tracks that make the list: DJ [...]

Hypemachine regulars, Crystal Castles, will be playing for a crowd of hypemachine fans this Friday @ Nasty Nav's Wrongbar in T.O. Over the past 5 years these indie scene superstars have transformed into an international phenomenon. They released their first full length album earlier this year, and are back to the city where it all started for a live set, this time on the ones and twos. Over the past year their remix of Heath's Crimewave has blown up, to the point that their remix was remixed, and even THAT blew up! Today I've included both their version and [...]

Crystal Castles Another track from the Daft Monkey mix . Crystal Castles did this amazing version of Van She's track "Sex City". Now after a bit of jiggery pokery from Nasty Nav we have... Crookers at circa, you already have a review! Crookers after Circa, amaizing but only for a few! The Crookers after party while not as glamourous and pretty as their show at Circa was dirty (a term I am told I overuse) in the best possible way. The unfinished interior was the perfect place to move to the polished sounds of the Crookers and Vaneska until the sun came up. Nasty Nav, Keith Lite (of Autoerotique), etc. were all in attendance and the party was hot, humid but most of all HOUSE. In my humblest opinion the music after the party [...]

So yeah, anyone who's still contemplating getting anywhere near in at Webster Hall on October 23 for the Crystal Castles , Lymbyc System, Whomadewho show are, like us, more than likely out of luck. But if you're currently got residency in Germany, well, shit, you've got a total of five opportunities next week to catch Ethan and Alice live. Dates: Oct 13 Frankfurt Batschkapp Oct 14 Leipzig Werk II Oct 15 Munchen Backstage Werk Oct 16 Stuttgart Rohre Oct 17 Erfurt Centrum [...]

Crystal Castles reaffirms their place as the sketchiest musical group running. I received a call from ticketmaster today informing me that their, Oct 27th Vancouver show has been cancelled and that they are issuing refunds for it. In other recent CC news, this from NME : Crystal Castles have revealed how they used a getaway car to escape from Brighton police – after officers were called during a particularly raucous show [...]

This is a whole new kind of Remix Sunday. I love to dance. With such an admittance, I'm expecting to be in good company this coming Sunday at Toronto's Sunnyside Pavilion at the first-ever TIME Festival . While the event hours are pretty unconventional for an event of its ilk (it's a daytime-to-evening event, starting at 1pm), the lineup may calm the nerves of anyone worrying if this formula can work. Belgium's Electro fathers SOULWAX (aka 2 many DJs) head a roster that also includes Fool's Gold man-in-charge [...]
