This week we got the opportunity to ask WAVVES frontman NATHAN WILLIAMS  a couple of questions following the news that the band will be travelling to the country this year for the much anticipated  SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS   festival. We always love it when artists speak their mind, especially when it has to do with being deceived out of money owed. The latest to make a public outburst is Nathan Williams of Wavves , who took to Twitter to lash out at a number of parties who owe him funds. Wavves ' Nathan Williams just dropped a new album , but he's got other things on his mind. This morning, he took to Twitter to get down to business. The first matter at hand: what happened last night? He's not sure. "Anyone taken tramadol? Fuck man i do not remember my night," he tweeted . But what he does remember is that he has some money to collect, and he's calling out those who owe him.

Though his roots are in lo-fi, Nathan Williams' latest album as Wavves , Afraid of Heights , is a well-polished, slickly produced offering. Stylistically, it doesn't stray that far from 20102s King of the Beach , though it is a step forward. I'm blown away by the first two songs on the album, Sail to the Sun and Demon to Lean On . If you are familiar with Wavves , carry on, but if you have not been acquainted with the mind of Nathan Williams... beware! Once you have entered Nathan's world there is no return and it's a dark, twisted treat with a jangly pop-punk filling. This video is as awesome as the song it was made for, but just as weird too. Featuring members of the band dressing in drag (bassist Stephen Pope and drummer Jacob Cooper) and the other two members swooning over them at a local watering hole. Let's just say that all does not go as planned, as the night ends in probably the worst possible way. Wavves released their new album, Afraid of Heights , today via Mom + Pop, and it is highly recommended that you check it out .

The fourth day of SXSW started much like the previous 2 for me: quick shower, shaking off the hangover, and breakfast tacos. Friday's festivities had a lot in store for me, and proved to be one of the best days I'd spend in ATX. Pop-punk rocker  Wavves recently released the official video for Demon to Lean On ,   the first single from  upcoming LP Afraid of Heights.  The video follows a kid who gets left in a car that gets towed to what appears to be an abandoned junk yard, which we come to find out is inhabited by a savage band of lost boys. The kid is captured and taken to the king of the group, played by Wavves himself, or as his birth [...]

Don’t know how pervasive or permanent it’s going to be but I like Nathan Williams move towards a more alt rock sound as demonstrated on Demon To Lean On . Check out the recently released video for the song below Wavves latest album,  Afraid Of Heights, comes out on 26th March.

Wavves drop their fourth album in March, not bad for a project that only released their first back in 2008. Afraid of Heights is their first since Billy Hayes left the group in 2010. Their surf-rock has been a treat for a while now, and 'Demon To Lean On' is no different. Sure of melody and beefy of sound, with Nathan Williams's voice remaining the sneery, grubby joy that it is.
