Photo: Sports Illustrated Analyzing the NBA's bygone times tend to get academic. Eras don't match up well thanks to play styles and rule changes taking their toll on the game. Additionally, it's pretty difficult to appreciate key moments before your time. I wasn't even a thought in 1980 so I can't draw from personal experience. With that said, there are always a few moments preceding your existence that make you shake your head in amazement. Sports heads already know the story of Earvin "Magic" Johnson's rookie season. He played phenomenally [...]

Everyone agrees. This past NBA season has been one for the ages thanks to a variety of reasons; a big one being this NBA Finals. Already drenched in drama and storylines, the season could very well come to an end tonight on South Beach. Or we could be right back here Tuesday night for one of the biggest, most scrutinized Game 72s in sports history. Regardless, the Crew took on the liberty of creating 22 questions heading into Game 6. Some more pressing than others. Take a look. 1. Will the city of Cleveland [...]

Kelly Clarkson Kelly Clarkson started game 4 of the 2011 NBA finals off the right way with a stirring rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. Kelly hit all the right notes while performing the National Anthem at the basketball game that was held in Dallas, Texas last night (June 7). Clarkson wore a blue Marvericks shirt to support her favorite team. It came in handy as they walked away the winners, beating out the Miami Heat 86-83. Watch the performance below:

The more and more the 2011 NBA Finals plays itself out, the more and more the series is taking on the form of a real life soap opera. Maybe that's what so great about sports. Even when the drama is manufactured, it's real all at the same time. Game 4 saw an Oscar's nominations worth of storylines leading into Tuesday's pivotal matchup. D-Wade dominance, Dallas' starters sans Dirk disappearing act in Game 3, Jason Terry's challenge to LeBron, the issue of "shrinking" and, lastly, LBJ's role alongside his partner-in-transition. Now, Game 4 has come and gone by [...]

And then there were two. This year's NBA Finals represents a classic case of the "irresistible force" meeting the "immovable object." Which team is which is completely subjective, but the importance of this year's championship looms especially large. The Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat square off in a rematch of the 2006 championship. Ominous cognizance remains from yesteryear's series including Dirk's dilapidated, but recently revived playoff image as well Dwyane Wade's controversial free throw extravaganza. This time Dirk boasts a better supporting cast while Wade brings along a team dichotomized to the nth degree since last [...]

Well folks, he made it back to the finals. It took him a revolving cast of characters and a team full of great role players to finally get him back to the promised land, but it's hard to argue his decision now, isn't it? Of course, I'm talking about Dirk Nowitzki and his decision to stay with the Mavs this off season. Dirk has been an unstoppable force in these playoffs, and returns to the NBA Finals five years after he last led Dallas there, ironically, also against the Miami. Acro...

I was recruited by a group of Boston Celtics fans tonight to deep fry some foods for Game 7 of the NBA Finals. The history behind this decision was that in 2008, the Celtics were 4-0 in games where the deep fryer was used to cook up fish sticks, mozzarella sticks, french fries and chicken nuggets. This year, the Celtics were 3-0 in games where the deep fryer was utilized. I wanted to make tonight historic. I went to Whole Foods this afternoon and bought a few pounds of cod, a pound of calamari steaks, shrimp, mushroom bites, jalapeno and cheese poppers, [...]

NBA Finals history has seen many great battles that went down to the wire. History also shows that the home team (usually takes the crown) (LINK) in deciding games like the one we'll see tonite. Still, it's one game, either team's game. Tonight, they only have to be the last squad standing when the final buzzer sounds. Make your picks & talk your sh#t. Enjoy! If you're killing time before the game, read "2010 NBA Finals Game 7: The Greatest Deciding Games in NBA History."

The Celtics just played their last home game of the season and a win today will put the Lakers in similar territory - something they don't want. Kobe proved last game that even a Jordan-esque performance doesn't make him the Great One. Will the Hollywood crowd give the rest of his teammates the juice he need to compete or will (insert random Celtic that shows up) take the Green to the promised land? This is the stuff legends are made of. Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit [...]

Well, it's official. Big Baby is now my favorite NBA player. I want something like this for a T-shit, but maybe Glen Davis in silhouette. Like a Charlie's Angels type of thing. Still, how can you not love this guy ?

The Black Mamba is moving it like a snake on his way to hole for easy baskets and Old Man Fisher's tears are making the court quite the slippery slope for the Celtics to get any sort of offensive transactions going. Will the Lakers take the commanding 3-1 lead? Can Boston's big 3 actually score more than 20 points as an unit? Will anyone ever ball in Converse Weapons again? All this and more in due time... The series is tied 1-1 but it might as well be nothing to nothing. After a full-court yellowwash on L.A.'s end, the Celtics bounced with help from the Ray-Raj brothers. Much like the prophecies stated , the momentum has been swinging like a pendulum. So who you got? Why did this happen? WHY?! This is no knock on Andre and we aren't being being Beatles purists here. This song sounds great actually. It sounds so good that when married to Kobe, the latter actually seems more likable and charismatic. (The Beatles + Andre = MEAN-FACE-BE -GONE!) Good look for Kevin Durant at the 54 second mark, too. High fives to infinity. (Via: Vulture )

It's reaaaaallly hard for me not to talk about the NBA finals here (go Celtics), but I think I filled my basketball quota a couple Week In Review's ago. Meanwhile, I'm already talking about basketball. Sorry. Umm let's see what important stuff happened this week that would cause you to miss Knox Road? Oh, American Idol happened; I won. I should probably be happy, but god Lee was awful. It was only appropriate that he sang "What would you do if I sang out of tune?" before Crystal and Joe Cocker joined in. Also, did anyone know that Lindsay Lohan [...]
If you know me, you know I ride or die for Gilbert Arenas . I won't lie like I've always been on the bandwagon; when he was shipped over from Golden State, the majority of Washington's sports fans had almost no faith in his abilities on the court. That quickly changed after he started yelling " hibachi! " (the name of a super-hot Japanese grill. As in, "I'm on fire. Let's f***ing GO!") after his jumpers and fried anybody who stepped up to the challenge. I'm still talking sh!t to people about how he treated Kobe like a [...]

Photo Credit: Getty Images I hate to see the season end like this. No, I'm not mad that the Lakers won. In fact I'm glad Kobe got a chip and I expect him to make a diss record at Shaq in the coming weeks. But c'mon now, the finals were so garbage. It wrapped up in 5 games. One was interesting (game 2) the next best one was aggravating (game 4) and that's it. David Stern couldn't have planned for things to [...]
