I know the name of course, but in truth my knowledge of the man's music is shamefully limited to a few collaborative recordings with fellow Australian artists and his 2007 album Stolen Apples , thanks to Reviewshine I have had a chance to listen to a handpicked 40 song collection of his work in the form of a greatest hits release that's now out in the US and available as a two-CD set for $14 (or $ 10 for the digital version). In the business for over 30 years, according to Wiki Kelly has released [...]
Ryan Adams: "Carolina Rain" (Live on Songwriters' Circle) Despite reports of a few awkward moments regarding the show's collaborative format, Ryan Adams, Neil Finn, and Janis Ian all turned in inspired solo performances for BBC 4's Songwriters' Circle last week. For his part, Adams dusted off 5 older fan favorites along with a pair of Ashes & Fire songs. His full set is online here , but singled out above is an excellent take on a personal favorite: "Carolina Rain," 29 's road-weary centerpiece. Given that [...]
Filed under: News , Holy Hell Gareth Cattermole, Getty Images It appears somebody might have tried to get into Neil Finn 's Pajama Club over the weekend but in a rather weird manner that left the musician's home vandalized. According to a string of tweets on Sept 25 on Finn's account, a young male attempted to enter Finn's residence on the evening of Sept. 24. "Last night a drunken young man beat [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , New Music , Exclusive , Q + A Jason Dempsey/Chris Stapp A 50-something rocker starting a band with his wife who's never played in a band before has, on paper, all the ingredients of a dud. But Pajama Club , the group started by Split Enz and Crowded House 's Neil Finn and his wife Sharon, is anything but. Featuring [...]

Pajama Club - Crowded House-mate Neil Finn and his wife Sharon are the shared drivers in the front seat of this new off-shoot vehicle...where Crowded House was sleek pop/rock ride, with luxurious melodies and padded production, Pajama Club is more of a rugged, ragged ATV (minus a muffler and a top)...we can't help but think that Neil and Sharon's son Liam's indie pop explorations have been a big influence here // Release : Pajama Club (September 13, Lester/Redeye) // Sounds like : a bracing, ramshackle romp of a garage pop album, the edges [...]

How often do we get to mention Crowded House on this website? Probably never if I had to guess... Well today is the day with a new project and single from Crowded House front man Neil Finn's new project known as Pajama Club . This new song "These Are Conditions" will appear on a new self-titled album due out September 13th on on Lester Records . That beat building throughout the track is just sick nasty. Watch Neil Ginn, Angus and Julia Stone, Daniel Johns and more sing Nick Cave's 'The Ship Song' for the Sydney Opera House.
The Sydney Opera House has put together an incredible video for what they are calling The Ship Song Project. The project sees artists performing Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds' "The Ship Song", and features a video of those performances spliced together. The list of participants is impressive. It includes performances by Neil Finn, Angus & Julia Stone, Martha Wainwright, The Temper Trap, and

The enduring legacy and massive appeal of Tim and Neil Finn (Crowded House) was celebrated with two smash hit albums; 2005's She Will Have Her Way, and 2010's He Will Have His Way . Now it's time for the boys and girls to play together on They Will Have Their Way : The Songs of Tim & Neil Finn National. Tour this November. Below a samlple of what's in store from Emma Louise and Lior:

Night 1 of Solid Sound was nearly a wash out. Pouring rain had guitar techs and roadies giving each other worried looks on stage - and for a while I wasn't sure Wilco would be able to take the stage. They did take the stage, albeit a little late, and proceeded to put on one of the most intense shows I've seen from them. The band mirrored the storm overhead, putting together a setlist that featured some of their noisiest, most experimental and visceral work. Nels Cline was the star of the night, and [...]
[Photos from Wilco's Solid Sound Festival at MassMOCA in North Adams, MA 6/24-6/26/2011. Photos by Michael Piantigini.] It rained. Like, a lot. I'm generally skeptical about big music festivals. Overcrowded, hot, overpriced concessions, and acts I'd rather see in a dark club at night rather than a massive dusty field in broad daylight. But I'll be damned if Wilco don't have this all figured out. I doubt you'd find very many of the reported 6300 (at its max) attendees of Solid Sound with anything bad to say, even about all [...]

The era of the boutique festival is upon us. And what's more boutique than the premiere catalogers of Bush-era yuppie angst curating their own celebration of music and art in an abandoned factory-cum contemporary art destination in Western Massachusetts. And so it is with Solid Sound – Wilco 's three day extravaganza, now in its second year at Mass MOCA in North Adams. Just outside the festival entrance there's no doubt whose in charge – all the members of Wilco appear, in caricature. Step inside and over to Joe's Field, the [...]

A wet weekend couldn't dampen the spirits of the Wilco faithful that headed to North Adams MA for the second annual Solid Sound Festival. Wilco's two headlining sets totaled roughly 50 unique songs - including many world premiers and collaborations. After I fully dry out, mp3s from both full sets will be posted in their entirety soon - check back soon. Until then, here are some of the many highlights... I Love My Label (Nick Lowe cover) I Might (new) Dawned On Me (new [...]

Kanye West & Big Sean @ Irving Plaza Tuesday ( Joshua Laboy ) Maybe it was all the excitement of summer finally arriving, but for whatever reason, NYC shows have been pretty heavy on the special guests lately. Here's a few we know about. Reggie Watts joined Glenn Kotche and Buke & Gass during 'Wilco weekend' at NYU for the Jab Abumrad's Radiolab Concert on Saturday (6/18) as the secret guest. He was a secret because of the two [...]
And you thought Crowded House was a strange band name. The frontman of the Australian pop group, Neil Finn, has put together a collective called Pajama Club (changed from Pajama Party for legal reasons). The band consists of New Zealanders Finn, his wife Sharon, and indie artist Sean Donnelly. On tour, Pajama Club will feature drummer Alana Skyring, formerly of Grates. Pajama Club is already scheduled to play the United States as soon as later this month, and has plans to release its eponymous first album September 13th on Lester Records / Redeye . Reportedly, [...]
