Marc Muldin photograph A rock sound that slam dances and guitar rocks on the fine line between psychedelia and darkness DEAD CONFEDERATE are a hard band to nail down but an easy one to to love. For the uninitiated, Dead Confederate is a five-piece rock band from Athens, GA. Each of their last two releases have been placed near the very top of our annual best albums list (for Sugar from 2011 and Wrecking Ball from 2008) and with a new effort, [...]

Or for now - Fundit: Pursued By A Bear... Cork synth-sires Exit: Pursued By a Bear have been very quiet of late with the quartet holing themselves up in the studio to record the follow-up to 2010's eponymous début record. In order to push over the finishing line (twelve demos have been recorded with 'Rabbit with Hat' available for streaming below), the bears require some Fund:It help with a target set at €5,000. In their own words this money would contribute to "professional [...]

New Holy Ghost ? Yes please! Having been released the day Daft Punk put their new album as a free stream on iTunes means "Dumb Disco Ideas" may have gotten lost in the shuffle, but it's a pretty sweet track. Their first new single from their upcoming album Dynamics which does not have a release date yet. Not too fond of the video (find it rather boring), but hey can't win them all. They will be on tour [...]

On the heels of the cover song from yesterday, I bring you even more options to hear musicians perform other musicians intellectual property. This time it is full album cover project for The Postal Service's album ' Give Up ' for it's 10 year anniversary. A pretty influential album at the time and almost defined a new wave of 'indie' in music. Many may deny it's importance or downplay the effect this album on today's music (if asked today), but you know they still don't even fully believe themselves. There are two sides to this digital offering with [...]
More album news? More album news. Beloved San Francisco garage rocker Ty Segall , who seems to release an album in some various form every half year or so, announced his newest solo LP Sleeper . The Drag City release, which is set for release August 19 in the UK and August 20 in the U.S., is the first solo LP since last year's Twins release. Check out the teaser for the LP below, which features Segall sleeping because there's a theme here.
Nearly four years after the release of Tonight , Franz Ferdinand have finally announced the proper follow-up, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action . Mikal Cronin 's new album, MCII gets me feeling all early 902s college/slacker rock nostalgic. It's much more than just a trip down nostalgia lane though. It transgresses it's influences, and has enough hooks and intrigue to grab you on the first play and keep you coming back for further listens. Here's the new video for Change (the 6th tune on the album - fact fans) - MKII is out now:
Here's an absolute stonker of a track from Australian psych-rockers, Pond . Giant Tortoise is definitely a step forward from last year's slacker rock-esque, Beards, Wives, Denim album. The band, who share a bassist with Tame Impala (and have a frequently changing line-up) have beefed up their sound and if this track is anything to go by now sound like the rather lovely missing link between Mercury Rev and [...]
Here's another teaser from Queens Of The Stone Age 's forthcoming ...Like Clockwork album (out 4th June) - Keep Your Eyes Peeled :

New Tunng ? Yes, please. You know I am affectionate toward the London crew, and their new song, "The Village," does little to alter that. The song is 4 minutes 33 seconds, and I've listened to it 5 times in the last 22 minutes and 45 seconds. Math! "The Village" is the new single off Tunng's forthcoming fifth album, Turbines , due June 17 via Full Time Hobby . Bonus:
![[MP3] Fialta: “Photographs”](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4952116_lg.jpg)
I wrote about Fialta, the 'fun-loving California indie pop group,' back in May of 2011, and my opinion hasn't much changed. They're keeping things light and sugary on their upcoming full-length, and "Photographs," the first single, is a prime example. Even though they're in sunny Cal all year round, they know what it's like for us seasonal people. The album, Summer Winter , set for a July 23 wide release, is perfect summer music. So thank you in advance, Fialta, for making my summer that much better. Fialta on Facebook [...]

Retox YPLL Epitaph Records 27 May 2013 by Ollie Connors Fresh from a rarer-than-rocking-horse-shit set of shows with former outfit The Locust, vocalist Justin Pearson gets back on the Retox wagon, with second full-length YPLL following on from their 2011 effort, Ugly Animals . The quartet have the same vein of frenetic energy as The Locust [...]

THE BEST NEW ALBUMS OF 2013 After a solid year of touring, JAY NASH spent most of 2012 hunkered down in his Vermont home studio, crafting what would become Letters from the Lost (produced by Bill Lefler & Jay Nash). It was a time for stepping out. This is the first album Nash had recorded outside of LA in many years. Throughout his [...]
