You may know that we're big fans of 1,2,3 around these parts; we've hung out with them, we've listened to their music an unhealthy amount of times, we saw them live at SXSW more than any other act, they're cool fucking dudes, and their debut album "New Heaven" was voted as our Number One album of 2011 , but the guys have missed more than enough shows because of their van constantly breaking down on them. So they've started a Kickstarter [...]

1,2,3 from Pittsburgh in the USA is - Nic Snyder (vocal / guitar), Josh Sickels (drums / percussion), Mike Yamamoto (guitar / keyboard) and Chad Monticue (bass / vocal / glockenspiel) a quartet who grind out that gritty realism you expect from their home territory. 1,2,3 Urban edged industrial influences resonate through 1,2,3 , there is no pretentiousness here, just rugged sounds smoothed by a soulful refection. The band play their way through some driven sounds to which they append a [...]
Fresh off the excellent release of New Heaven , Pittsburgh's 1 2 3 are back with a brand new single, and with that single, they'll be offering you two brand new tracks. As of right now, I'm pretty sure you can grab these tracks from the band's site for free, so you'll need to get your hands on these new jams. However, the single itself is for "Scared but Not That Scared," which is one of the standout tracks you'll find on the record. It's got this cutting [...]

I think Jesus said that) the single features "Gun Master" and "Machine" , two new tracks that aren't on their exemplary debut album [...]

One of the things I like most about dropping by Turntable Kitchen is how – bloggers in chief – Kasey and Matthew Hickey, make you feel like you’re hanging out with your favorite couple. A Monday morning visit feels like a Friday evening of good food and candid conversation, with the pause between records being the only break in music playing. That’s how I felt the first time I visited this blog with the intention of snagging live Spoon recordings from the post titled Single Serving: Spoon – Various Live Covers (which TK revisited a year [...]
There has always been a great deal of fascination with a band's debut album. Whether it be due to an album's incredibly refreshing and innovative sound, because of an enigmatic member or persona, or because the the band's rise has been public and anticipatory. And then there are albums like 1,2,32s New Heaven , the kind of debut that goes seemingly unnoticed, but an album which deserves both critical acclaim and respectable fanfare. I remember stumbling upon one of 1,2,32s original demos; a track called "Confetti" which was made the rounds across a few music blogs [...]
Tweet Well it's actually just 1,2,3 lead singer Nic Snyder, but watch out for the improvised Frank Sinatra reference and Nic disappearing into a giant dumpster at the end, it all fits with the "Work" theme. This is an every day occurrence for me.....mainly because I'm jumping into dumpsters looking for food, but still! Connect with 1,2,3 - Facebook | Twitter | MySpace | Website

Words by Brendan / Photo above by Hugh Twyman Despite having an almost un-Google-able band name, 1, 2, 3 have made quite the splash in the indie-blogo-musico-versasphere , and for damn good reason. Their songs are catchy and brimming with an intelligent synergy and synthesis of a multitude of musical stylings. (Say that five times fast.) But even with their popular singles, in mp3 and 73 vinyl formats, and a record deal with indie label Frenchkiss , the band had never played in their hometown of Pittsburgh. Until about [...]

Words by Brendan The holiday weekend has come and gone. You're back from wherever you went to stand around a grill and drink beer with those relatives you only see twice a year. Or maybe you've been in town all along and you're still catching up on lost sleep from a hectic weekend (like me). Whatever your status, it's back to the summer concert season this weekend, and you've got plenty of options coming up in the next few days. Garage rock at the 31st Street Pub, folk rock at the Carnegie Museum, our [...]

If to be consistent is to be boring, than the band 1,2,3 counts off to a sure chance of surprising even the most experienced competitive music listener. 1, 2, 3 revels in its implausible musical range, which even veers towards a delightful schizophrenia as their second installment “New Heaven” progresses. The band’s duo, Josh Sickels and Nic Synder, have an attractive confidence and a wild penchant for experimentation. The insanely catchy hook, and perhaps driving thesis of the album, “I’m scared, but not that scared” -on a track of the same name- swaggers, perhaps because 1,2,3 knows [...]

Watch/Listen to the band, 1,2,3’s "Work" from their debut full-length “New Heaven”. The band was recently released their first album nd have been making a lot of people take notice of their diverse sounding indie rock that just immediately grabs you.

Work - 1,2,3 Pittsburgh's budding 1,2,3 (@123theband) is generating a healthy dose of buzz just in time for the arrival of their debut LP, New Heaven . Infections and cohesive, but varying enough to repel comments of repetition, the album offers listeners a solid retro-pop sound that promises repeated plays. New Heaven opens with the previously released track, “Work”, a song that epitomizes the atmosphere of the album as a collective. Thumping drums meet crunchy guitar riffs, while [...]
