Photos and photos of Terry Richardson's photos by G. Mom and Dad by Terry Richardson. Now showing at Half Gallery in New York through December 4, 2011 Ever wondered what Terry Richardson's family album might look like? Wonder no more. His exhibit "Mom and Dad" at Half Gallery in New York is here! The photos are taken from a 2-volume coffee table book that was published earlier this year. The photos could only be Terry Richardson's parents as the artsy photos range from touching portraits to desperate [...]
by Bill Pearis DOWNLOAD : Xeno & Oaklander - Autumn's Edge (MP3) Xeno & Oaklander are New York's premier minimal wave, and have been doing it 1981 style -- using patch bays and vintage equipment exclusively, no laptops -- for over five years. Despite the duo's neo-luddite approach to making electronic music, Sean McBride and Liz Wendelbo have certainly gotten better at what they're doing, both [...]

The New Museum is pleased to be the first major New York institution to screen OPEN , a film by emerging Director Jake Yuzna (b. 1982, Minneapolis, MN). The first American film to receive the Teddy Jury Prize at the Berlin Film Festival, OPEN presents the new forms of love and sex emerging at the dawn of the twenty-first century. Inspired by the life and work of Genesis and Lady Jaye Breyer P-Orridge, OPEN follows a love triangle between a young hermaphrodite and a pandrogynous couple merging their bodies into one through plastic surgery. As [...]
Photo via architectsnewspaper I was walking through Brooklyn on Halloween nite when I stumbled past these 3 authentic children, all dressed as relevant architectural landmarks. I had to do a google image search since I 'recognized that the buildings were relevant' but didn't know their names. Turns out that they are the Guggenheim, the New Museum, and the Whitney. All of the children seem happy, knowing that they are 'way smarter'/generally 'better' than most regular kidz and their boring-ass costumes. Sorta feel sad looking at the lil grim [...]
Though I will be attending Northside festivities tomorrow evening, the New Museum is hosting an event with MEN (featuring JD Samson of Le Tigre fame) and Brendan Fowler (aka BARR or whatever else he may be going by the name of these days). On the surface, this seems like a pretty cool event, but part of me just needs to question if Fowler is even going to show up. Okay, so I know the obvious, Fowler has a piece in the show currently exhibited at the New Museum--reason enough for him to give a performance. I [...]
The New Yorker's architecture critic, Paul Goldberger, takes a brief look back at t he buildings that made us gasp in 2008 .? He predicts 2009 and 2010 will be slim years for new buildings, so now is the time to cherish what've we got. In time for the 2008 Olympics, the world saw the fruits of China?s decision to put aside nationalism, hire the greatest architects from around the world, and let them do the kind of things they could never afford to do at home. That brought us two of the greatest buildings of [...]

I feel sad, jealous, and angsty when I see kids who are experiencing a culturally enriched childhood.

THE GENERATIONAL: YOUNGER THAN JESUS
by marissa bea Saturday afternoon I braved the rain and tourists, and visited the newest exhibition at the New Museum , down in the Bowery. This large show includes 50 artists from 25 countries, all under the age of 33, and for those curious about the title of the show, Jesus was 33 when he died, hence, Younger than Jesus . There are a few pieces in the lobby and cafe, but the real magnitude of the showcase begins one floor up, by neon green elevator. [...]
