I stumbled upon this daNk track earlier this morning off super producer Ski Beatz' upcoming album, 24 Hour Karate School Presents: Twilight . This spaced-out joint features Mac Miller , who sounds more in his lane on this than anything on his official debut (just being honest). While everyone was wondering who bodied the second verse on this, I went straight to the source to find out that it was none other than Cali spitter Locksmith (yes, I am hating on all the blogs that didn't actually listen to this [...]
The Time & Space Machine is the latest project from London-born Richard Norris, best known as a member of The Grid back in the late 80s and 90s. You also might know him for his collaboration with Erol Alkan as Beyond the Wizard Sleeve . In anticipation of his forthcoming second album, Taste The Lazer , he's released the single for Pill Party In India . Off Tirk Records, it's a great psychedelic disco trip with remixes by Mojo Filter and Psychemagik . You can check out my previous [...]
Gemini Club made quite a few people happy releasing their single "By Surprise" (from their Here We Sit EP) for free. Sel-classified as indie electronica, the group made up of Tom Gavin Gordon Bramli Daniel Brunelle Andy Heisler, are a bunch of home-grown boys from Chicago. The group has been making their way into the music scene by opening up and supporting the likes of Chromeo , A-Trak , Two Door Cinema Club , Who-Made-Who , Dj Falcon and Chateau Marmont . Solid track here. It's got [...]
Anybody who's heard Haim over the past few years, or seen sisters Este, Danielle and Alana unleash classic-rock covers with their parents, has had wonder: What songs are hiding underneath all that long flowing hair? What will these twentysomethings sound like when their writing grows into their estimable chops? These week we found out, as the band released a free three-song EP, "Forever." It's rhythmic indie R&B highlighted by Danielle's bluesy vocals, sibling harmonies and mixed-bag percussion. Ready, set go. ||| Download: "Forever" [...]
Who, What, Where, When??? Stop what you are doing and watch the video for this super fun newcomer indie-rockers & Ohio-natives, Walk The Moon 's new single, Anna Sun . It so refreshing to see and hear such awesomeness happening in music now. It is for sure, really rare. If you are a Foster The People fan you will love them (Just FYI they are way better than FTP). The band is currently on tour with Young The Giant , which includes two nights in LA [...]
After the mighty, mighty Woodsman reached down the back of their sofa and fished out a couple of old EPs, they held a group meeting – possibly around a camp fire – and decided to reissue them both. The result is, we all get to enjoy the songs from Humdrum and Indoor Days . Here's one – it's called Supernal Radionics . Listen to it here: Supernal Radionics
For those of you that missed it, German artist Bartholomäus Traubeck is a genius. Why? Well, Traubeck has created a way to translate tree rings into music in a project appropriately titled "Years." These circular patterns inside tree trunks have long since been a way to learn about the life of a tree, which seems like a rather dry way of discovering the details on these significant organisms. On the other hand, music has always presented itself as an exciting and terrific way of documenting history, as well as the best, most genuine way of expressing one's story, [...]
Here's a gang who haven't been featured on Rarities before. Of Monsters and Men are a six-piece indie-folk band from lovely Iceland, who in 2010 won Músikilraunir, the country's annual music competition. Of Monsters and Men have already had major success in the United States since their song 'Little Talks' was recorded live over the 2010 Iceland Airwaves festival by Seattle-based radio station KEXP. In August 2011, the song was also debuted on Philadelphia station Radio 104.5, and quickly went into heavy rotation due to an [...]

Shad: Rapper Talks 'Survivor'-Style Canada Reads and 'Siberia' Collab With Lights
Filed under: News , Exclusive , New Music Black Box Recordings This week Canadian rapper Shad got a taste of what Polaris Prize jurors went through when debating the merits of his Juno Award-winning album when 'TSOL' went head-to-head with 10 other Canadian albums back in 2010. "It does give a little bit of insight as to what happens in the Polaris backroom," Shad tells Spinner following his [...]
Tom DeLonge on Blink-182's 'Awkward' Reunion, Travis Barker's Plane Crash and the Fun and Games of Angels and Airwaves

But when the band collapsed and announced an indefinite hiatus in 2005, the guitarist was left searching for a brand-new avenue -- a bigger picture. Angels and Airwaves have been DeLonge's main focus for several [...]

Loud, Louder, Loudest
If the chorus of your track consists of only one word screamed over and over, you best choose that word wisely. Considered giants of the Bay Area hardcore scene, Ceremony know a few things about noise, and word choice. In their first recording for Matador, "Hysteria" grinds your skull, chipping off shards of bone like a runaway jackhammer. The drums are crisp, the guitar building in agitation, then exploding into glorious vocal fury. I find it difficult not to climb on top my desk, cackle like a banshee, and start kicking out computer screens one [...]

Middle Of The Night
You might remember Teenage Kicks for their pretty great Rational Anthems EP last year. If you don't: Go check it out right now , then come back here. If you do: You'd be smart to check out what the band has been cooking up since then. In addition to another EP, Be On My Side , that will be released on March 2, they recently launched the Teenage Kicks' Singles Club , where they'll be sending up a two-track single every two months, all for the mere cost of an email address. I should think [...]

1981 - Ramas Caidas
1981 - Ramas Caidas Maximiliano Pietroboni aka. 1981 likes to make songs that play up to their title. ' Ramas Caidas ' translates as "Fallen Branches". And the natural bursts of mellowed-out energy give out a suitably autumnal feel - in fact the song works perfectly as a soundtrack to the snowy view from my bedroom window. It's a gorgeous backdrop to get lost in; an instrumental work of many hidden paths and beautiful twists and turns.
