Not long before they took the stage at New Noise at the Gibson Guitars Showroom earlier this month, we sat down for an interview with one of our favorite DC bands, GEMS . We ask them about their upcoming plans, the D.C. music community, their favorite bands of late and more. Big thanks to Jacob Zverina for his video mastery on this one. Watch it above. Black Light Dinner Party are masters of shimmering melancholic indie-electro who first took the internet by storm with Hype Machine chart topping hits in 2011, since those first days BLDP has been hard at work planning their second invasion. We got the first taste of their second coming in February with the starry-eyed burst of their hit single 'We Are Golden' and the inventively absurd, oddly beautiful, and just massively enjoyable to watch video that soon followed. Our friends over at All Things Go are bringing BLDP back for DC's most intimate show, New Noise, at the [...]

There are certain things I enjoy in life: the first windows-down drive after winter, my Spotify Premium account and guacamole, to name a few. Way above all those, however, is being blown away by opening bands. Washington D.C.'s PLOY did just that when they played before The 1975 at DC9 last March, and again - although this time expectedly so - before GEMS at the latest installment of New Noise last week. Today they added to their already-incredible collection of songs on Soundcloud with a brand new single, "VRDSNT." The local duo, comprised of Gil Wojcik [...]

All Things Go returns to the Gibson Guitar's DC Showroom April 10th for the first New Noise of the year. For the series' eighth installment we're bringing in GEMS , one of DC's best emerging acts, for a headlining set in the showroom's intimate setting. GEMS have been receiving a lot of love - including Pitchfork and Yours Truly - for their mesmerizing, lo-fi dream pop. We're extra excited to be putting them on in conjunction with our friends at ASCAP , Flying Dog and Listen Local First , [...]
The Dillinger Escape Plan: One of Us Is the Killer the Dillinger Escape Plan have released a new track called ‘Prancer’. The long awaited single is from the forthcoming One of Us Is the Killer , due out 14th May on Sumerian Records. A US tour follows to launch the album. Alas, no Irish dates have been announced, yet, but the math-rock pioneers are playing Roskilde this summer. Looking at the line–up, coupled with a Danish setting and a chance to get off the island for a week, it seems Roskilde is [...]

We hope you're all excited as we are for New Noise 007 this Thursday, December 4th at the Gibson Guitars DC Showroom . Along with putting on HAERTS ' first live show in DC, we'll also be bringing back All Things Gold alum and one of our favorite bands of late, Vacationer , for a proper headlining set. Vacationer's Kenny Vasoli was awesome enough to make a playlist for us featuring five songs he's been playing on repeat recently. Check them out after the jump, and make sure to grab your tickets for New Noise below. [...]

All Things Go will be returning to the Gibson Guitars DC Showroom on Thursday, December 6th for the seventh installment of our monthly New Noise series. This time we're giving Vacationer - one of 20122s best new acts and two-time All Things Gold alum - the New Noise treatment. The Philly four-piece proved their mettle this year with their debut LP, Gone , and will be bringing their carefree sounds back to DC for the first time since their performance at our 9:30 Club show earlier this summer. Opening [...]

Not getting enough All Things Gold in your life? Consider yourself extra lucky this month, then. On Saturday, November 17th, All Things Go and Neon Gold Records are happy to be bringing Alex Winston back down to the District. Alex is no stranger to the city. Just this past July she put on an incredible set at our New Noise series at the Gibson Guitars DC Showroom. Come party with us at U Hall as Alex plays the best cuts off her debut LP, King Con , along with support from openers [...]
A personal favorite of mine, the Swedish punk group Refused, has announced that their reunion will come to an end in December. They will go out with a bang playing their final show at their home, Umea, Sweden on the 15th. Here is the letter that was put up on Refused's Facebook page, announcing the decision to end the reunion: GOIN' HOME So there were those years right after school, when you were 15 and pissed off and everyone thought you [...]

For our sixth New Noise installment, we are returning to the Gibson Guitars DC Showroom for an intimate evening featuring stripped-down performances from two of our favorite artists from the District. U.S. Royalty have already proven themselves to be one of the nation's capital's premier acts, especially following the release of their stellar debut full length, Mirrors , back in 2011. The four-piece will show us how it's done with a special acoustic set. Opening the night will be Misun . This self-described "aquawave" outfit is one of DC's finest up-and-coming acts [...]

REFUSED ARE NOT FUCKING DEAD . Refused are alive and currently melting your face. Tonight it's in Vancouver, first of two shows. They're back. REFUSED ARE BACK! Where to start? Start with wall-shakin' screams from hardcore LA's The Bronx - Matt McCaughthran's, precisely - tonight, with special guest The Drips/Mariachi El Bronx's Vince Hidalgo comin' in on a day's notice to replace a Bronxian who slipped and bust his arm the night before. Good one, Hidalgo! And good one Bronx. The sound is big, but it's as you'd expect. But the real reason we're all there? [...]

New Noise returns to the Gibson Guitars DC Showroom on Thursday, July 26th for perhaps its greatest edition yet with live sets from Alex Winston and MS MR . Yes, we're well aware that's the night before our mega All Things Gold one-year anniversary at the 9:30 Club , but with a line-up like this how could we pass? Alex Winston's stunning debut LP, King Con , has been out for a while now and is already on track to be one of 20122s best. And if you caught [...]

New Noise returned to the Gibson Guitars DC Showroom last thursday for its fourth installment with music from Tiny Victories and Slowdance . Amazing tunes were played, great times were had. Our New Noise events at the Gibson Showroom are all about tiny victories: Small moments of success for up-and-coming artists who are out there contending with and proving themselves to the world; triumphs of which the spoils include an awesome party (complete with open bar) and the distinction of joining the ranks of the other starlets ( Reptar , ANR & Body Language , St. Lucia & Savoir Adore ) who have graced the Gibson stage over the past year. So it is fitting that this Thursday, June 12st, one half of New Noise [...]

Once all the bullshit is said and done - Refused are back, they came to Download Festival 2012, and every. damn. person who saw them said they were absolutely stunning. You can't fake that - Refused ain't so fucking dead anymore. Refused @ Download Festival - 10 June 2012 (c/o Ben Gibson) [...]
