This time last year, Ellie Goulding's collaborators of choice appeared to be the John Lewis marketing department, having been chosen to damage her reputation as an interesting and potentially exciting new popstar with her cover of Elton John's 'Your Song'. Fortunately, as we start 2012 it appears her taste in music colleagues has improved somewhat as her Skrillex (hotly tipped dubstep blahblah - as we're sure you're aware) collaboration 'Summit' goes to show. As the closing track on Skrillex's insanely brilliant 'Bangarang' EP, 'Summit' is the quiet one that counters the noisy enormousness of [...]

Radiohead has confirmed the release of three additional remixes that were commissioned for the series collected on last month's TKOL RMX 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 (tbd Records) but not included on that release. The three new remixes-Bloom (Jamie xx Rework Part 3), Separator (Anstam RMX II) and Morning Mr Magpie (Nathan Fake Harshdub RMX)-are now available for pre-order with downloads available Monday, November 21. In other news, the first European dates of next year's Radiohead tour have...

Hrishikesh Hirway's The One AM Radio is trekking the country with Dntel (featuring Jimmy of Postal Service) and Geotic (featuring Will of Baths), in what they're calling The Soft Alarm tour. Lotta love between these cats, as they go way back and have frequently remixed each other's work. Collaborative efforts among competing bands? Outrage! Of course, The One AM Radio isn't on the road for their health. They're pushing their fourth full-length, a fine little number called Heaven Is Attached By A Slender Thread . Single [...]

Tampa's Sleepy Vikings got a considerable amount of buzz for their debut, They Will Find You Here , and apparently also snagged a few high-profile supporters. How high you ask? Here's a little something that Marc Bianchi, aka Her Space Holiday, whipped up to show his appreciation. MP3: Sleepy Vikings - Calm (Her Space Holiday remix)

Making Friendz is a new project from MEN bassist Tami Hart. Their debut, Social Life , drops on June 21st, and though their core sound falls very much into the lo-fi R&B camp, all bets are off when Brooklyn dream-poppers Kordan get their pesky hands into the mix. Nonetheless, MOKB is pleased to bring you the premiere of this expansive remix, which feels like it gets way out into Everything But The Girl territory. MP3 : Making Friendz - Reject [...]

Last week on MOKB saw a great deal of "bedroom," albeit not necessarily lo-fi, pop, so it seems only fitting that we get this week started with a singer-writer whose actively trying to bury that persona. Kyle Andrews latest full-length, Robot Learn Love , could never be confused for the work of a lovelorn wallflower, particularly when one of its tracks undergoes the slice-and-dice of a fearless remixer, say, Mexicans With Guns (aka Ernest Gonzales). MxG had his way [...]

One of the many highlights for me at SXSW 2011 was getting to chat with Brent Amaker . He's much taller and darker than his videos suggest, but we had a fine time talking about our mutual love of cheap booze, cheaper women and, of course, Kraftwerk. Given some of the stuff we've seen and heard from Brent Amaker & the Rodeo in the past year, this P Smoov remix of Johnny's Theme shouldn't even raise an eyebrow, but I think it proves once and for all that Amaker is no one-trick cowpoke. [...]

A couple weeks back we shared a nice noisy David Andrew Sitek remix of the title track from DELS newest release, GOB . Apparently, we're not the only ones feeling DELS, as he's attracted Hot Chip's Joe Goddard, as well as Ghostpoet, to contribute to the remix of his latest, Trumpalump . MP3 : DELS - Trumpalump (Joe Goddard remix featuring Ghostpoet)
Wow, it has been a long Wompy week. Here's the newest ish from Skrill! Remixing Lady Gaga in true Skrillex fashion. Comes hard, bangs harder. Cop it below! Download: Died This Way ( Skrillex Remix) - Lady Gaga jerZ flow PB&J just 'Died This Way' Tagged: Died This Way, Dubstep, Lady Gaga, Lady Gaga Remix, New [...]

UK MC DELS will be dropping his new record, GOB , on May 24th. The title track has be making the rounds on the Interweb for a couple weeks, but today we're talking remix, specially remix by TV On The Radio's David Andrew Sitek. Now, we're always interested in remixes here at MOKB, but, truth be told, it's rare that a remix actually improves a song. This may be that rare exception. We're including the video clip for the original in case you want to do a side-by-side comparison, [...]
Yeah yeah, we know these are late. Here's Benassi's huge set from Miami. I can't think of many DJs that have been on the same game for this long. Check out this hard hitting set below AND check back later for two other sets...track list after the jump! Download: Benny Benassi @ Ultra SET [...]
One of my favorite remixes to date is Afrojack's of "Kickstarts" by Example. There's Ellie Goulding, and Florence and the Machine that have been heavily remixed recently. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing better than hearing a sensual women's voice come over a banging beat, I'm just saying there's more out there to be heard. [...]
Where the hell did this last week go?! Another Monday? fuckkkk! Coming off a great weekend in the Mountains; Gaper day in Breckenridge on Friday, 55 and sunny in Keystone on Saturday, coming back to Denver where it was 80. But wait, because it's Denver, obviously it snowed yesterday, and is 25 right now. Totally makes [...]
Big remix coming at ya from Disco Fries. Nothing less than what was expected from this main Collaboration. Bouncey long opening, with Chris Brown Auto-tuning on basic lyrics. Nevertheless, this has an enormous drop at the 2:00 mark, and will be rocking the clubs worldwide in the next few weeks. CHECK IT! डाउनलोड: Beautiful [...]
If you've been waking up feeling particularly listless from the endless winter drone and are seeking an effervescent pick me up, Those Dancing Days that spirited quintet from Sweden, have dealt us a double-dose of pleasure-pop scooby-snacks to help carry us through. The first is a rat-a-tat, synth-heavy remix of their single I'll Be Yours , courtesy of electronica duo Vision of Trees; the second is a brand new video for the original recording, off of their recently released sophomore effort Daydreams & Nightmares . Taken together, it's the [...]

File this on under Maybe You Love It/Maybe You Hate It . MOKB hasn't been shy in our support of James Vincent McMorrow , a singer-songwriter whose accomplished debut, Early In The Morning , is steeped in beautiful melancholia. However, remix artist Star Slinger evidently hears something a lot of us are missing in McMorrow's work and aims to bring it to the forefront in his remix of If I Had A Boat . It's a little different, but to tell you the truth, it's really starting to [...]

A few years back I received a very nondescript CD in the post from a band I'd never heard of. No biggie, this happens every day. After a few listens, I was convinced that the record was nothing remarkable. My ladyfriend disagreed vehemently and loudly. No biggie, this happens every day. Sadly, in this case, the band turned out to be Florence And The Machine. I ate a lot of crow on that one, and I will likely never hear the end of it. My ladyfriend has similarly predicted great things for New Zealand's [...]

MOKB is down with Freddie Gibbs . MOKB is down with DJ Quickie Mart . This is a no-brainer and a foot in the ass to anyone commuting through 18-inches of snow this morning in the Twin Cities. 4 weeks until SXSW! MP3 : Freddie Gibbs : National Anthem (dubstep remix by DJ Quickie Mart)

Been on something of a Marvin Gaye kick lately, and I've always dug this tune. Make no mistake, in the hands of Gaye and Tammi Terrell, Ain't No Mountain High Enough was never lacking for energy, but D.O.D's remix transforms a classic into a classic banger. Highly recommended if you have to drive a parent or grandparent to the doctor's this week. MP3 : Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell - Ain't No Mountain High Enough (D.O.D remix)

Brooklyn electro-mopettes Creep will be officially releasing the Days single, which features the dulcet tones of The xx's Romy Madley-Croft, on January 25th. To get everyone into the spirit, the gals have allowed Azari & III to give the track a major Chicago-style house makeover, much to the joy of darkwave dancefloors across the lower 48. If you're so inclined, by-all-means head over to the online home of Young Turks and buy music by Creep and other like-minded acts, just don't let us catch you enjoying yourself. [...]
